Diller Town Basketball Team Beats Hanover 23 to 19

The Diller town basketball team defeated Hanover, Kansas by 23 to 19 here Wednesday evening. It was a tight contest as Diller built an early lead and held it throughout. This victory marks Diller’s fifth win in five games. Lineup included H Bowers L F, Alfred Mayborn R F, Starr C, B Bowers L G, W Green R G, with L Willems as substitute.

The Diller post office and three rural routes handled a tremendous amount of Christmas mail as postmaster Mrs Vernon Hill and assistants Misses Adelia and Ina Roelfs, with carriers Scott Miller Rex Green and Clifford Sparks, delivered packages like Santa Clauses. 13 000 Acres More In Corn Fields

The federal farm census records a five year period after 1919 showing Jefferson county corn fields up by 13 000 acres from 85 760 in 1910 to 98 769 in 1924. Hay land declines about 6 000 acres while out wheat and white potato areas rise. Farms increase from 1 827 in 1920 to 2 018 in 1925 with 965 farm owners nine managers and 1 044 tenants. Total farm land grows from 351 184 to 856 560 acres.
