Miss Flossie Raymond and her sister Mrs. Oscar Amos with young Dean Barber visited their brother LaForrest Raymond and family in Lincoln last Friday. Dean and Mrs. Among returned Saturday. Miss Raymond came Sunday and met sister Miss Fern Raymond at Wymore.
The Dorothy Reeves Company staged three credible plays in the opera house this week then yielded last night for the Sera course number. It will return Friday and Saturday nights and offer a 10c matinee Saturday afternoon. The Meat company has pleased patrons so far with a well warmed and lit venue.
Six carloads of stock were shipped from this station Sunday. Elmer Greider sent one car each of hogs and cattle, Ross Highland sent one car of cattle, and the shipping association sent one car of cattle and two of hogs.
Mrs Bert Jackson died last Friday at her parents home in Beatrice where she had stayed about a month due to failing health. She is survived by her husband four children her parents Isaac and Mrs Seitz three brothers and one sister. Funeral was held Sunday afternoon in Beatrice.
A school program and sandwich and coffee social will aid the Red Cross in District 56. On Friday night March 1 the event will feature sandwiches in paper sacks for auction, hot coffee served by students, and a 20 cent admission. Willian Wohlfarth, Teacher.
Mrs H Z Diller and her daughter Gertarde traveled to Omaha on Wednesday to visit friends. Mrs Roy Hagerman formerly Creda Wright arrived Wednesday to visit relatives and friends. They reside at Powell Wyoming.
Joe Copeland states he purchased a Maxford Form a-Truck for use in connection with his auto livery service. The purchase is described as intended for business operations.
W. E. Epler sold two of his old brood sows in St. Joe this week, sent to market through the Diller shipping association in tan. They weighed 1265 pounds and brought a total of 203.03 dollars. The stock is described as pure blood Poland-China. It appears profitable to raise the larger breed.
The late opening and early closing order, set to start February 1 by the State Council of Defense, has been recalled. Jefferson County Council of Defense thanks all for patriotism and urges continued fuel conservation to avoid another similar order.
The A Hospe Co of Omaha announces thirty five used pianos in bargain prices from fifty to two hundred dollars and a large stock of new and player pianos ranging from two hundred twenty five dollars upward. Readers are urged to contact them at once for details.
Postmaster J. Q. Blauser will prepare twenty seven registration cards for alien enemies registered at the Diller post office for delivery by February 23. Registrants must appear by March 1 or cards on hand will be sent to the U S marshal in Omaha. Cards must be carried at all times with a penalty for failure to comply.
Elmer John Glathar and Miss Anna Adele Rahman wed Thursday afternoon February 21 at the brides parents home southwest of town. Rev Otto Bergfelder performed the ceremony with witnesses George Rahman Grace Kasper Paul Bent and May Glathar. The couple will reside on a farm near Odell amid congratulations and gifts.

Nebraska issued 148,101 automobile licenses in 1917, a peak reflecting rapid industry growth. The state began licensing autos in 1913 with 25,617 licenses, rising to 40,92 in 1914 and 59,140 in 1915. 1916 set a high at 100,534 as war demand boosted prices and activity.
Rev J Wallace will lead regular services next Sunday at the Presbyterian church. Larkin is visiting his family in Omaha this week and will return for the church gathering.
