The Union Evangelistic services start Thursday the 18th and run through Sunday and next week. Rev. E R Nance of Atchison Kansas is the evangelist with Mrs Eva Hill as singer. Services are at the Methodist Church and all church members are urged to attend. Rev WM Boyle and Rev C J Davis.
Barneston and Oketo investors in the Shumla Colony scheme received letters from agent M. J. Moran saying the deal is fake and advising not to pay further notes. The Muskogee company offered land along the Rio Grande with lottery style chances costing $100, $10 down and no monthly payments. Moran claims misrepresentation and seeks to recover funds for clients.
H. Z. Diller returned Sunday evening from a business trip to St. Joe. Adam Gretzinger came back Tuesday after a brief visit with his brother Ben at Beatrice. Mrs. Winnie Herwig visited from Humbolt at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Tristman. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Mathias went to Belvidere, Nebraska to attend the funeral of Fred Schroeder formerly of Hanover.

Miss Bertha Habicht born June 26 1875 near Walnut Iowa left for Avoca at eighteen and rose to management in LeMars and Dubuque. She opened a Ladies Furnishing Store in 1899, journeyed abroad, lived in Great Falls Montana, died February 6 1909. Her remains were brought to Diller for burial in Reserved Cemetery. She leaves a mother a betrothed three sisters and three brothers.
Albert Redden bought the well auger and drill again and guarantees to furnish water or no pay. See his ad in this paper. Wi Kirkpatrick, Lincoln Star reporter and cartoonist, visited here with his aunt Mrs Nida and family last week.
