E S Dunn and son in law Geo Creider from Fort Collins Colorado met local residents at the northeast corner of Mrs Starkey s farm to discuss an FERA road improvement project. The plan includes creek straightening a large fill tree removal and bank easing to aid farming with another bad spot noted nearby. Dunn and Creider returned to Fort Collins Tuesday noting Grandma Starkey is improving after a severe cold.

Seed Oats Allotment Increased for Jefferson County
Agricultural agent W C Andreas reports the Jefferson County seed oats allotment rising from 8000 to 10000 bushels. Consolidated orders total 7849 bushels. more allowances are sought. Oats cost 76 cents per bushel cash on delivery at Farmers Elevator, Abury, with possible seed loans under discussion. Some cards from last August were survey responses, not applications.

Fourteen year old Alice Rachel Fielder daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Fielder of DeWitt died early Saturday at Mennonite hospital Beatrice. Funeral services were at Ellis with Rev Fouts. Burial in Prairie Home Cemetery Diller. About eighty five DeWitt high school mates attended.

Mr and Mrs Arthur Milow of Elk Creek spent Saturday in Diller for business and to meet old friends. Art Milow recently sold his Liberty drug store and is now selling candy. Their sons Billy Ben and Arthur Jr contracted chicken pox during the holidays and missed about three weeks of school.

National Flower Show Comes to Omaha in 1920s Era
Omaha prepares for the National Flower and Garden Show from March 30 to April 7. The event marks a rare regional appearance with $25 000 in cash prizes and displays from the Orient and Occident, roses six to seven feet long, and life size rock gardens in the Aksarben coliseum. The national organization reportedly spends $75 000 to stage the show, funded by receipts.

Mrs. A. Jackson 86 an longtime Nebraska resident died at 3343 T Street Lincoln on Monday February 1 at 1 am from heart complications following a bronchitis illness. Surviving are four daughters Mabel O J Mayborn E M Elby and F B Reisner a son H N Jackson a brother O P Hart eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

C B Ashcraft died at age 72 at his Beatrice home on Monday. Funeral services were held at First Christian church on Wednesday with Rev Fouts officiating. Burial followed in Adams Nebraska, his former home. He had been in the grain business at Diller after moving from Ellis.
