The Record lists a Blauser circular promoting Round Oak stoves and cheap meat at 10¢ per piece. It notes Miss Ballard's sale closing Saturday Feb 14 and J G Packer continuing his sale of racket goods dishes underwear and hose. Local notices mention visits, funerals, and moves with several residents traveling or returning from nearby towns.
February is a short month and nearly one fourth of it is gone. Mrs. Warthen visited a son in Beattie Kansas. $2.35 reading for 18 cents with a one year Record subscription. George Cunningham returned from Atchinson Kansas. Fred Shutt of Reynolds visited Diller relatives between trains.
Henry Fouts, visiting Dawson before resuming as city schools principal, returned Sunday. Alvin and Ludwig Renz, who stayed with their uncle George Renz, returned Tuesday evening to Hardy. A new German Lutheran church near Harbine costs $5,000, in Gothic style, 37 by 76 feet, with oak finish throughout.
Mrs J H Pittenger visited at the home of her daughter Mrs Fred McAtee with other Diller relatives and returned Tuesday to her Beat Rice home.
The K. K. K.'s spent a pleasant afternoon on Wednesday February 4 with Mrs. O. B. Hill. After needlework a two course luncheon was served and a short business session followed. Many varied quotations were given at roll call.
Alfalfa hay offered for sale. J. W. Frisbie and Fouts conducted business in Lincoln on Monday morning train. C. T. Sears of Beatrice visited his daughter Mrs. H. E. Grape for a few days. Mrs. Henry Weers traveled to South Auburn on estate settlement matters. P. W. Price of Kansas City visited his mother Mrs. M. J. Price. The Degree of Honor dinner for husbands on Lincoln's birthday was indefinitely postponed.
Charley Beckman relocated Tuesday to his farm five miles southeast of Wymore after trading his Diller property last fall to his brother in law John Fashler.
August Hahne of Schiller Street and North Snapper Avenue owns a well improved half section near Shea four miles west of Diller. He spent several days last week in the area to look after his land interests and returned home Tuesday.
P. B. Miller, wintering with his daughter Mrs. Golda McKinley at Highland California, mailed postal card views of himself picking oranges on New Year's day. He notes barley wheat and oats sown a month ago are up and looking fine and flowers are in full bloom.
The Diller M W A lodge will elect delegates at the next meeting on Saturday February 7 to the county camp in Diller on April 1 to send delegates to the state camp in Hastings on May 6 and then to the head camp in Toledo Ohio on June 16 All members are urged to attend to ensure qualified delegates are chosen C 3 Carr C Frank T Pearce Clerk
Mrs. J E Copeland born January 27 1884 near Diller Nebraska daughter of Alexander and Bell married James E Copeland November 16 1904. Survived by three children and husband a number of siblings funeral held at local church with Rev officiating and buried Prairie Home cemetery.
We thank friends and neighbors for kindly assisting during the sickness and death of the wife and daughter and for the beautiful flora offerings. Mr J E Copeland and Mr and Mrs pres ek acknowledge the support.
John Carrico and family moved to Diller this week from near Falls City. He owns a well improved 160 acre farm near Falls City rented for 1000 dollars annually and a good quarter three miles southeast of Diller where his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs R J Williamson reside. The Carrico family occupies the Amos residence north of the school house.
At a meeting the Women Relief and G A R decided to celebrate Lincoln's birthday with a supper at the city hall on Thursday Feb 12 1914 from 5 to 830 pm. Music and speeches to mark the day with 25 cents admission. Proceeds fund a Civil War memorial in Prairie Home cemetery for deceased soldiers. Everyone invited. Committee promises comfort and enjoyment.
Jas Fairbank came home from the University of Lincoln on Wednesday for an enforced vacation due to having mumps.
H. A. Bell was knocked down by a horse he led to a water trough and sustained neck and lower jaw injuries that briefly prevented him from opening his mouth. He has recovered and is back to himself now.
On Sabbath February 8, 1914 the Presbyterian Church holds morning services Darkness versus Light with the C. E. topic Twelve great Is The safety verse Psalms 27:1. Evening features a union meeting of the young people's societies with a program to be presented.
Corrected weekly grain quotes show Thursday prices for Wheat and No 2 corn. The notes include selling price adjustments and market observations with limited legible details.
