A blaze hit Claude Nider's residence two miles southeast of Harbine, burning a large section of the main roof and causing extensive interior damage. Carl Schnuelle calls the scene a bad mess and indicates insurance likely involved.
Blanche Novotny is reported to be recovering after a recent illness. No further medical details are provided in the report.

John and Minnie Clauson visit on Sunday with their brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Bruce McCreight at Fairbury. The gathering reflects community activity following the recent cold spell.

Mrs. A. Jackson and Miss Mabel Jackson joined Orlo Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Eby along with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mossholder of Lincoln and Leslie Jackson of Beatrice visiting the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Mayborn on Christmas Day.
On Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Cavett hosted a six o'clock dinner with their children and families as guests. Alvin Hirsch and sons Freddie and Robert Dean of Fairbury attended along with L. M. Hurst and Betty Jean and Donald of Diller.

Mrs Christie Seaman hosted a merry Christmas with 25 guests including her children grandchildren and great grandchildren. Guests also included Mr and Mrs S F Clark and Everett. A feast of goose duck and chicken was served with all the usual goodies. Aunt Christy was thanked for the warmth of the holiday gathering.
Mr and Mrs Schultz and Elizab et h odell Mr and Mrs Lawrence Caldwell and Pearl and Mr and Mrs George Freitag and family spent Christmas at A A Weyer home in Fairbury. A decorated table featured turkey and trimmings and gifts were distributed from the tree. A five o'clock lunch of brick ice cream two kinds of cake and cookies followed before guests departed thankf ully.

The Diiler school teachers take Christmas vacation at home with Mr and Mrs Ler splitting time between Omaha relatives and Falls City parents. Miss Mares travels to Ulysses, with others relocating from there to nearby homes.

Weslyean student Roger Drew is staying during the holidays at his brother Rev. Robert E. Drew and Mrs. Drew home in the M. E. parsonage.

Mr. T. O. Cherry of near Roca Nebraska died in a Lincoln hospital Friday from severe burns suffered while starting a fire with kerosene a week earlier. He was brother to Wm and John Cherry former residents here and to Mrs. Walburn of Endicott and uncle of Mrs. Earl Pearce.
