Winter started Monday per the calendar after a cold month passes. Mrs M E Geer visited Fairbury Saturday to see her son Curtis Geer and family. Jack Wheeler from St Edwards arrived Tuesday to spend time with sisters Mrs H K Shutt and Mrs Will Henrichs.

Mrs. Orleva Blauser McLaughlin, after several weeks with Diller Beatrice and Lincoln relatives, left Wednesday for Mathews California. She plans to stop at Kansas City to visit her sister Mrs Thos Price en route.
W H and Julius Packer with son Orval arrived Monday from Wood River Nebraska to visit Diller relatives. Will Packer administrator of the late James Packer Sr estate, final settlement completed in Beat Rice probate court Tuesday, they left for home over the St Joe and G I from Endicott Wednesday.
Mrs Jane Fordyce of Medford Oklahoma came Sunday for a visit with Diller relatives.
The Record office lists subscriptions for newspapers and magazines at publisher prices available to readers.
Mrs John Plager and her son Francis traveled Tuesday to spend Christmas with her mother and other relatives in Humboldt.
Miss Flossie Raymond visited relatives in Lincoln this week. Mr and Mrs O J Mayborn and children traveled to Lincoln for Christmas. Attorney and Mrs Henry W Fouts of Fairbury spent Christmas day with his parents in Diller. Mr and Mrs Harry Gregory of Reynolds and Mr and Mrs Clint Tristman of Chester are visiting Diller relatives for the holidays.
Professor Rhue Green superintendent of schools at Stanton Nebraska arrived Tuesday to spend Christmas at the home of his parents Mr and Mrs H E Green.
Dr L N Smith a longtime Western Nebraska resident and early Diller physician died last Friday night at age sixty five. He practiced in Diller during its early days and later pursued residence in Western Nebraska.

Alfalfa hay for sale. Arthur Grone mentioned. Mr and Mrs H E Green visited relatives in Lincoln from Friday and returned Tuesday. Will Logan, student at veterinary school in St Joseph Missouri, came home Friday for the holiday vacation.

Mrs Wen Lambert returned Sunday to her Guide Rock home accompanied by her daughter Mrs Cedric Fanders and the twins.
Alpha Martin arrives Monday from St. Joe to spend holidays with his sister Mrs. Minnie Boxwell at the home of their uncle Geo Cunningham.
Gus Dressen received a new shoe machine on Monday and awaits the electric connection to start it up. The delay is due to the missing power supply, keeping the equipment idle until the line is live.
Mrs Alice Leason traveled Tuesday to Hanover Kansas to visit her sister Mrs Harry Harris and the Harris family.
Miss Mary Patton who had visited a few days with Diller relatives returned Saturday in Lincoln.
Mrs Christie Thompson departed last Friday for Davenport Indiana to stay a couple of months with relatives. She plans to visit relatives and relax during the extended trip.
Miss Ruth Bugbee a teacher at Upland arrived Saturday to spend the holidays with her parents Mr and Mrs D A Bugbee at their home.
Leon Blauser of a large Kansas City hardware firm stayed with his parents Postmaster and Mrs J O Blauser from Sunday until after Christmas.
W G Robertson of Fanders and Robertson garage and his wife travel to Kansas City for Billie to attend a six to eight week automobile school. Carl Tarnow remains in the shop during the absence.
Miss Lettie Taylor daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Taylor longtime Diller residents who moved to Oklahoma in 1905 married Mr Chas E Curts on November 26 at Ponca City Oklahoma The bride taught in Oklahoma schools for eleven years and the couple will reside in Red Rock Oklahoma.
The Diller schools are on vacation this week and will reopen Monday morning, the 29th.
Oliver and Elenor Diehl traveled to Beatrice on Tuesday to spend Christmas with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Rhodes, detailing a family holiday gathering.
Lawrence Madden and family visited Monday at the home of his parents Mr and Mrs Jos H Madden in Sidney Nebraska.

District Court Judge Pemberton announces the 1920 terms for Jefferson county. First term begins March 8 with jury called March 9. Second term starts June 21 without a jury. Third term opens December 6 with jury called December 7. No grand jury will be summoned without court order.

A petition filed with the county clerk requests reopening and widening a road between sections 19 and 30 in Elm township to legal width. About thirty petitioners allege landowners at the township west end forbade travel through their fields and one neighbor was prevented at gunpoint. A separate assault complaint was filed this morning.

Church notices urge continuing Christmas joy into the new year with Sunday school at 10 a.m. Epworth League at 6 30 p m and evening service at 7 30 p m on December 28 led by Miss Fern Cavett. All Leaguers urged to attend. Welcome Spirit remains.
The Presbyterian church invites all to Sunday services at 10 a m and 7 30 p m with music and a sermon on Other Sheep and New Year plus a 6 30 p m C E Endeavor led by Eva Line. A watch night gathering with Rev P A Davies is planned next Wednesday at 8 p m with music light refreshments and New Era movement remarks.
