At a December 14 meeting Masons elected Horace H. Green Master Willis H. Cark Senior Warden John D. Steiner Junior Warden Calvin L. Waggoner Treasurer Walton I. Filley Secretary. Appointive officers have not yet been announced.
Attorney W H Line and relatives visit Mrs Jennie Line for a Sunday night, then take a two week vacation touring Texas Old Mexico Louisiana and Tennessee. Ethel Gunderson of Omaha Gadys Gunderson of Fremont are Mrs Line’s sisters.
Diller high school basketball team swept Endicott in a two game series. The first game saw Diller win 24 to unknown score. The second game ended 21 to 7 in favor of Diller.
Workers near completion of carpentry at Colman Orphanage. After the heating plant is installed, painters and decorators will start work.
The Steele City Pinoche Penuchie Club visited Diller Club on Tuesday evening. The visitors won the contest, turning the event into a vic tory for the guests.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Barneston with burial in Barnes ton cemetery beside her husband. She was sister to the late Jake B Zook and aunt of Mrs Sam Thompson.
The Burlington section foreman changes at Diller follow retirements. Joe Nicholson moves to Beatrice as first man in line for a foremanship, with his family remaining at Diller until location is final. Wig Green, a younger Burlington employee, becomes first man at Diller. Nicholson had been foreman at DeWitt but was bumped to Diller, displacing Green. The bumping issue is hoped to be ended.
Farmers of Pleasant precinct met at City Hall on Wednesday to organize a precinct committee overseeing the 1938 federal agriculture program. J. Smith Diller was elected chair, Quince Fry vice chair, Vinton secretary, with Herman Sixel and Herbert Barber as alternates.
Mr Chester Scharman of Steele City marries Miss Gladys Rohl a Lincoln teacher who recently resigned from Steele City schools. The couple plans a trip to California.
The Y P F held a Sunday evening meeting with a good turnout. Eleanor Weigel leads as Publicity Director. Next gathering is at 6 30 p m at the church next Sunday.

Mrs Sophia Chancellor died in Fairbury on December 9 at the age of 92. She was the widow of William Chancellor and came to Nebraska in 1882. She was mother to Mrs John Steinmetz and Mrs Ford Gerard.

The first seasonal meeting of the Young People's Card Club was held at Velma and Dell Wehling's home on Saturday December 11. Five tables played progressive Rock with David Wehling winning high prize and Bill Alc Cowley taking the consolation. A Treasure Hunt followed, yielding a large box of candy and popcorn. Refreshments included sandwiches red green jello cake and cocoa. The next gathering will be a Christmas party at Margaret and Virgil Bugbee's on December 23.
The N N I C Neighborly Neighbors Improvement Club met Tuesday December 14 at Mrs Guy Learned's home with six members and two children present. Assistant hostess was Mrs Margaret Packer. The lesson titled Planning The Leisure Hours explored leisure as time for hobbies. Refreshments were served and members departed with a sense the meeting was worthwhile.
The Daily Sun reports John Boettcher’s home was damaged by fire last Sunday around eleven o'clock in the morning. No injuries are mentioned and the cause is not disclosed in the readable text.
William Champ, eldest son of Francis M. and Ruth Ann Champ, born January 11, 1878 in Champaign County Illinois, died December 15, 1937 after a lingering illness at age 59 years 11 months 4 days. He lived near Odell Nebraska most his life, survived by three brothers and two sisters, and was buried at Odell cemetery after services at Waggoner Bros. funeral home in Diller with Rev. E. E. Powell officiating.

A packed Valley School audience enjoyed an evening of songs recitations and dialogues directed by Miss Grace Reiff. Santa Claus distributed treats while Bill Weers won a cake by nearly guessing the candy count. Proceeds came from a plate lunch and popcorn sales. The Harbine Stockmen 4H Baby Beef Club held its regular meeting at Harbine School House on Monday evening December 20. Leader Wm. Sandman distributed material and assignments for next time. Feed problems and feeding were discussed. Edmund Wrigley News Reporter.
Mrs C R Steffen hosted a chicken dinner Saturday noon for her Sunday School class of 12 boys. The class exchanged Christmas gifts and expressed thanks for the teacher’s thoughtfulness and goodwill.
