Rev. C. D. Moore of Harpersville New York describes suffering from a grip and persistent cough that forced him to sleep upright. He credits Dr King’s New Discovery for Consumption Coughs and Colds with curing his cough and saving him from consumption. Trial bottle free at Spear Drug Co with 50¢ and $1.00 sizes.
A local ad promotes buggies with a wider assortment and better letter grades then before. Mentions Bt J.D. FANpens B. F. Lightner and H. Z. Diller, and notes Tuesday evening travel from Kansas City to buy goods, with a stock search. An offer for kidney pains backache and rheumatism claims relief from Pine pills sold at Nealey's Pharmacy.
Wilson Shoebotham will accept deputy under Sheriff Elect Chirnside and move to town to begin duties January first. The appointment is praised as a good one and will give excellent satisfaction.
The ad touts Pine-ules as a night relief for back ache and kidney pains. It claims the product strengthens kidneys and bladder, cleanses blood, and eases neuralgia and rheumatism. Sold at Neeley’s Pharmacy.
Harper Washington man Geo W Hoff man credits Electric Hitters with curing his chronic stomach and liver troubles after seven years of battle. He endorses the medicine, noting its reliability and plans to keep it in the home. Sold with guarantee by Spear Drug Co at 50 cents a bottle. Trial encouraged.
Farmers and businessmen met in Diller to form an independent grain company to buy and operate an elevator, ending price discrimination by neighboring towns. A committee led by A H Colman Ek L Loock and Thos P Price will solicit stock subscriptions. A follow up meeting is set for next Thursday December 28 in the First National Bank director’s room.
The Earth Entertainment Course program drew strong attendance with Nellie Payne Bimpson’s piano, Mrs Bounds’ singing, and Rev Harry Huntington’s sketches receiving high praise. Next, Hon N K Griggs of Lincoln will lecture January 19, expected to surpass prior events.

Colman invites readers to visit The Up-to-Date Jeweler in Fairbury and notes consolidation of The Fairbury Times with The Fairbury News.
A Burlington corn special traveled west on Tuesday afternoon. At Odell an instructive talk on how to fall as corn attracted a large audience. About one hundred people rode from Diller on No. 16 and returned on the special.
Prairie Gem and vicinity residents list a steady stream of visitors and callers from Steele City and nearby towns. Names include A Dvorak, John Novotny and family, Miss Mary Jones, Wm Lambert and daughter, Mr and Mrs Nida, Winnie Acton, B F Wasser, C Monasmith and family, Dell Monasmith, B Greenwood, and Col J B Wright. An agent for Seelye medicines covered the area. a sale is scheduled near Odell on January 4.
Dr W T Jeffryes was called to J L Wiseman eight miles northeast of Diller to treat Henry Rosenberry a farm hand who suffered a nose injury after a horse bite at about 5 am. The patient was transported to Beatrice where Dr Hepperlin helped in restoring a new nose and he is recovering well.
The article notes that Col Harbine established the first county bank and that now ten banks operate in the county with ample funds. Their published totals on November 9 indicate growth and serve as an index of local development. Also mentioned is a book titled The Life Supreme by J. Br. Mr Burbank announces a cross of walnut varieties that supposedly yields the fastest growing tree yet. He argues wood scarcity and high prices justify the breakthrough with possible uses in furniture fuel and other products. If verified he would apply grafting to a benevolent end.
