Independent grain firm proposed for Diller area

Farmers and businessmen met in Diller to form an independent grain company to buy and operate an elevator, ending price discrimination by neighboring towns. A committee led by A H Colman Ek L Loock and Thos P Price will solicit stock subscriptions. A follow up meeting is set for next Thursday December 28 in the First National Bank director’s room.

A Burlington corn special traveled west on Tuesday afternoon. At Odell an instructive talk on how to fall as corn attracted a large audience. About one hundred people rode from Diller on No. 16 and returned on the special.

Nose bitten off by horse at farm near Diller

Dr W T Jeffryes was called to J L Wiseman eight miles northeast of Diller to treat Henry Rosenberry a farm hand who suffered a nose injury after a horse bite at about 5 am. The patient was transported to Beatrice where Dr Hepperlin helped in restoring a new nose and he is recovering well.

Ten banks in county prospering since Col Harbine era
