A jumbled mix of tips, ads, and notices appears from a late 19th century Nebraska issue. Items include a humorous clipping about resilience, a restaurant for sale listing, Christmas candy promotions, local visits, a president’s message synopsis, phonograph records, pile treatment ads, a death notice from Spokane, bargain watches, and a tale of a giant lemon grown by former Diller residents.
Seven year struggle with chronic stomach and liver trouble ends in a cure, George W. Hoffman of Harper Wash endorses Electric Bitters. He recommends them to all and says they will cure such cases. Sold with guarantee by Spear Drug Co. at 50 cents a bottle.
The Rock Island railroad paid personal taxes of 13 626 19 in the county. The St Joe G I paid 6074 05 in full. Burlington paid partial. The total assessment against the road is 10 194 15 with 6 888 06 already paid. An injunction to restrain collection of the unpaid amount is probable.
Rev. O. D. Moore of Harpersville New York describes years of coughing from grip and sleeping upright before using Dr. King's New Discovery for Consumption Coughs and Colds which he says cured his cough and saved him from consumption. Sold at Spear Drug Co. priced 50c and 1.00 with a trial bottle free.
J. W. Fouts bulletin reports Auburn visitors Rabbers bought the Samuel Barber estate for 15400 cash. The brisk fall activity in Diller area follows new advertising and strong business acumen. The notice invites land listings for No. 22 mailing December 20, 1906.
An a Duroc Jersey male hog for sale at 21 O C Miller. Tax payments possible at Diller State Bank for Jefferson and Gage counties. Druggist H C Stokes back at Neely Pharmacy. H E Foster of Els coal reports ample winter coal. W Bee of Shelbyville will lecture for Modern Woodmen in Loock's hall on December 10 with a short musical program. Dr Shoop Preventics advertised by Spear Drug Co. Colman block under rapid construction with hotel walls plastered and doors being hung. Furnace in operation and large plate glass set. No rental details yet despite several applications.
The Presbyterian Church reports strong attendance at the Torrey Mission in Omaha with a 2000 voice choir and a Sunday night men’s service. Preparatory worship is set for Friday and Saturday, with the quarterly Lord's Supper next Sunday. A ministers’ meeting followed by fasting and prayer is planned midweek.
Mrs Frank Spear was expected home from Topeka last evening. A note mentions a dozen Poland China male pigs for sale.
A farmer offers a car load of good big unbroke horses for sale at reasonable prices. They can be seen on the farm located 3% miles southeast of Diller. Contact Geo. C. Morris for details.

Woodmen of the World lodge Diller Camp No. 1668 elected officers for the coming year led by W C C. E. Waggoner and W A J E. Clark. Other officers named include Clerk Frank T. Pearce Ex Banker Alex Bell Escort Adam Gretzinger Watchman Robi Johnson Sentry Alvin Pasco and Manager three years C L E Blauser with Camp Physicians Drs Neely and Bauquess. Installation set for January 9th.
John Novotny shelled corn as the farming community reports busy husking. Families visit and attend church while others market hogs and sell farm produce. Corn and wheat prices rise slightly and local rentals shift with a Falls City buyer.
John Steiner reportedly gathered and cribbed 110 bushels of corn in eight hours for Chas. Beckman on Thanksgiving day. The item asks if anyone can beat that record locally.
