Mr and Mrs R F Starr returned one day last week from visiting Mrs Wilson Brandt in a sanitarium at Savannah Missouri and with Dr and Mrs J W Miller former Diller residents at their home in Mound City Missouri who sent regards to Diller friends.
The Continental Construction Co. installs a telephone system with gas pipeline work west of town. Poles are set along the section lines as the pipeline crews operate near Ellis.
The Cedar class of the Congregational Sunday School enjoyed a lavish oyster supper hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Clark on Friday night November 28. Pearl Thompson and Grayce Myers tied for first in a turkey drawing contest and Phyllis Patton received a trumpet for the best word play from Thanksgiving. Other games entertained attendees though some delays occurred.
The Dorcas class of the Methodist Sunday School were entertained in the church basement Tuesday afternoon May 25th. Attendance was small due to threatening weather, but those who attended were well rewarded.
Oliver Diehl and Miss Belva bury of Lincoln spent Sunday at the home of his father Dr. oO C Diehl. Mrs Werner Brackner who had visited here with her sister Mrs the Farrow returned Wednesday to her Minnesota home.
Clarence Findling hobbling with crutches after an accident at Burlington yards Saturday. While unloading rails at the station the end of a rail tipped and bruised his instep. He is reported about all right now.
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Beckwith hosted a family Thanksgiving dinner with guests including Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Cassell of Steele City Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Richardson and Betty Elaine and Bob Beck of Carleton Mrs. Roy Robb and a Poney Se Eileen of Lincoln and S. A. Woods visiting in the afternoon.
On Wednesday December 10 at 2:30 PM Hostess Mrs C H Cally and Assistant Hostess Mrs V T Logan lead a meeting with roll call and current events. The program includes Nelson An Hour with Verdi Life of Verdi and Story of his Operas Il Trovatore selections a musical drama and a group of children.
The Burlington steel gang of 75 men finished laying heavier rails on the division and left Monday for Hastings. They had laid seventeen miles of new rails from four miles east of Odell to Shea using track laying machines for the heavy work.
