J L Lamb and L A Blauser with family returned Sunday from an auto trip to Sheldon Wisconsin to visit Bill Tristman and family who are reported as healthy and happy after the visit.
CG L Waguces returned Sunday from Vandalia Ohio where he attended the Grand American shoot. Cal was near the top in scores until his gun acted up causing him to lose eight targets. Still, the trip was enjoyable for him.
Mr and Mrs S J Thompson and children Mary Lou and Robert and Mr and Mrs Willis Clark and daughter Carolynn Rose spent a Sunday with the Thompson’s son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Frank Andelt at Dorchester.
Mr and Mrs Herman Sasee attended the funeral of his sister Mrs Debbers at Byron Monday. Mrs Debbers 63 had been in Superior hospital four weeks before her death. She is survived by her husband and one daughter.
Mrs. Timothy Murphy of Washington D. C. spent Thursday and Friday with Mrs. Myrtle Northup and family, accompanied by her father C. W. Northup of Franklin, Nebraska, and her nephew Harry Northup of Lincoln.
The N R C club met at Frank Erck's home on August 8 with eight members three children and one visitor Mrs Newt Hays present. The warm day heated the group but conversation about travels cooled them and the hostess served ice cream and cake making everyone feel cooler.
The NRC ladies gathered at Mrs Will Amos home on August 28. Eight members two young ladies and three children attended. They spent the afternoon visiting and planning quilt finishing. A dainty lunch was served. Next meeting set for Mrs Arthur Vieths home on September 12 with reminders to bring thimbles and suggestions for the club.
Reverend R. M. Harris of the Diller M E church departs for England to visit his parents and soon marry. H. H. Beck accompanies him to Omaha en route to New York for a Wednesday steamer, after Harris’s farewell sermon praised by the congregation.
An eastbound Burlington train No. 16 wrecked at the switch west of Diller yards but no serious injuries reported. Engine 2801 and tender left tracks. heavy damage to tender and cream car. High school registration begins at 9 30 Saturday morning September 1 for town students in the morning and country students in the afternoon starting at 1 30 The first day of school is Monday morning September 3 children need not attend until then.
