Local notices list upcoming fairs including Jeff Co Fair August 26 to 29 Nebr State Fair August 29 to September 5 and Gage Co Fair September 23 to 26. A girl was born the 14th to Mr and Mrs Will Glathar Opal Hill referenced.
Erland Nelson and family from Blair Nebr made a short call at Supt Nelson's home on Tuesday. Mrs W S Filley and Eleanor and Hubert left Wednesday to visit relatives in Kansas.
Thomas Hand has opened an electric shoe shop in the Fred Clark building and offers full shoe repair services using modern equipment.
Arthur Rhoden suffered painful injuries but was not seriously hurt in a Tuesday night vehicle accident near the home of Harry McCord three miles east of Fairbury.
Mr and Mrs Mahlon Wolken and children Dwaine and Doris plus Mr and Mrs Hebert Barber and daughter Garnet enjoyed a park dinner Sunday at Fairbury park in a family outing.
One of the partygoers who caused a scene at the picnic last evening is serving time at Fairbury for failing to settle the assessed fine and costs.

Mrs. Eva Lewis of Cam Grove Illinois with her son Lester and family from Princeville Illinois are visiting the Saylor home this week. They intended to visit in Nuckles county Nebraska before returning home.
The Board of County Commissioners inspected roads and bridges in the Diller area and approved two new steel spans. One will be at Roy Greider's northeast of town and the other at Wm Behrend's southwest of town. Bids must be advertised, commissioner Woods says, requiring patience.
Diller schools start September 1st with a teacher meeting on Friday August 29th in the Assembly Hall to discuss plans for the year. High School registration is set for Saturday August 30th at 9 AM. The Board of Education and faculty urge patrons to attend and plan for a successful school year led by Nels and staff.
O. J. Mayborn and his family started Wednesday in their car on a vacation journey to summer resorts in Minnesota.
Mr and Mrs Ed McCune drove their sister-in-law Mrs Guy W Hill who had spent a week visiting and attended the picnic to her Beatrice home on Tuesday.
Mr and Mrs Harry Ahrends DeLoris and Stanley returned Thursday from a 12 day trip to Denver and Colorado Springs. They traveled home via Bur well Nebraska and stopped to attend the big rodeo there.
Graydon Habicht and his friend Chas. Goheke of Worthington travel early in the week visiting Habicht's grandmother Mrs. Nancy Robinson and other Diller relatives.
Kenneth Fouts and his three children traveled from Seward to visit his sister Miss Averil Fouts at their mother Mrs. Elizabeth Fouts home. Mrs. Fouts is bound for Spokane Washington where she teaches in the city schools Thursday evening departure.
A 30 ft section of the Missouri Valley Co pipe line near Hollenberg was blown into the air by a gas explosion after heavy rain washed dirt from the pipe. Burning gas erupted 200 300 feet high as gates were closed. A large crowd from Diller watched the spectacle.
A death notice praising C A Leaper Osborn who lived a devout Christian life and served as a witness for the Lord. The piece recalls his early faith, constant prayer, care for friends and the sick, and expresses farewell with hope of reunion in heaven.
Weather brings heavy rain with ten and fifteen one hundredths inches falling at Diller last week causing the creek to overflow a bridge south of town Saturday. Mrs. Sarah Warman and Joyce Dressen are listed on the sick list. Mrs. Jennie Osborn visited Miss Minnie Clauson and was en route to Steele City to visit relatives.
Mr and Mrs Worth Dowling of Council Bluffs Iowa visited here Friday with his sisters Mrs F W Frisbie and Mrs E E Hill and other relatives.
Mr and Mrs W G Tristman and son Arlie of Conrath Wisconsin arrived Monday by car to visit Diller relatives and will be accompanied home by her father J L Lamb.
Mr and Mrs Lee Sherman and family from Stella Nebraska visited the Supt Nelson home this week. Also present were Miss Bernice Beachler of Reynolds and Miss Bessie Dirks of Heulett Wyoming.
Mr and Mrs W S Slocum marked their Golden Wedding Anniversary on August 11 at their daughter Mrs J H Emersons home in Diller Nebraska. A bountiful noon dinner featured crystal baskets of gold and white decor. A mock wedding in old fashioned costumes delighted guests as telegrams and calls of congratulations arrived. The couple are longtime Diller pioneers with five children fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The Blauser reunion took place August 17 1980 at Diller city hall with 59 attendees. A bountiful dinner served at one long table featured many Blausers and friends from Lincoln Beatrice and surrounding areas. Music by Mrs Osborn readings by Grace Foster and a vote to meet again next August marked the gathering.
Mrs Carrie Wrigley and her grandson Gerald Harvey left Wednesday for Basin Wyoming for a month long visit at the home of her brother in law A B Wrigley and family

Mr and Mrs C B Ashcraft returned Wednesday from an auto trip to Columbus Kansas where they attended the funeral of Mrs Ashcrafts brother s wife who was killed by a bull Mrs Rollo E Arthur daughter of Mrs Ashcraft and son Russel of Beatrice accompanied them
The first farm sale of the season in this locality was held Tuesday by J. R. Harms on the P. H. Shea farm five miles northwest of Diller with Col. Hoyle as auctioneer and Luther Nelson as clerk. Prices were strong with a five year old gelding at 115 dollars and two others at 105 each. A thirteen year old mare sold for 63 dollars. Milch cows topped at 96 dollars with four averaging 65. Bred sows averaged 41 and spring pigs 13 each. Farm machinery sold well. Mr. Harms and family will move to Amarillo Texas soon to make their future home.
Mrs. Arthur Grone hosted the N R C Wednesday afternoon with 12 members 2 children 6 visitors. Two contests awarded prizes to Mrs Leonard Richardson and Mrs A Kunecke. Refreshments served. Club votes to picnic Sunday Aug 31 and plans to meet September 10 with thanks extended.
Mr. E L Loock of Diller suffered a paralytic stroke Sunday at the home of his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs E R Henrichs in Fairbury while visiting with his wife Mrs Loock and daughter Charlotte. One side of his body and his vocal organs were paralyzed as relatives and friends in Diller wish for his speedy recovery.
Mr and Mrs Clyde White and family and Miss Vera White and Mrs Wm White of Sterling Colorado spent a short time Thursday of last week at the home of their aunt and sister-in-law Mrs Carrie Wrigley.
