The Board of County Commissioners inspected roads and bridges in the Diller area and approved two new steel spans. One will be at Roy Greider's northeast of town and the other at Wm Behrend's southwest of town. Bids must be advertised, commissioner Woods says, requiring patience.

Diller schools start September 1st with a teacher meeting on Friday August 29th in the Assembly Hall to discuss plans for the year. High School registration is set for Saturday August 30th at 9 AM. Explosion Tops Missouri Valley Pipe Line Near Hollenberg

A 30 ft section of the Missouri Valley Co pipe line near Hollenberg was blown into the air by a gas explosion after heavy rain washed dirt from the pipe. Burning gas erupted 200 300 feet high as gates were closed. A large crowd from Diller watched the spectacle.

Slocums Celebrate Golden Wedding in Diller Nebraska

Mr and Mrs W S Slocum marked their Golden Wedding Anniversary on August 11 at their daughter Mrs J H Emersons home in Diller Nebraska. A bountiful noon dinner featured crystal baskets of gold and white decor. A mock wedding in old fashioned costumes delighted guests as telegrams and calls of congratulations arrived. The couple are longtime Diller pioneers with five children fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Blauser Reunion Is Held At Diller City Hall

The Blauser reunion took place August 17 1980 at Diller city hall with 59 attendees. A bountiful dinner served at one long table featured many Blausers and friends from Lincoln Beatrice and surrounding areas. First Farm Sale a Good One

The first farm sale of the season in this locality was held Tuesday by J. R. Harms on the P. H. Shea farm five miles northwest of Diller with Col. Hoyle as auctioneer and Luther Nelson as clerk. Prices were strong with a five year old gelding at 115 dollars and two others at 105 each. A thirteen year old mare sold for 63 dollars. Milch cows topped at 96 dollars with four averaging 65. Bred sows averaged 41 and spring pigs 13 each. Farm machinery sold well. Mr. Harms and family will move to Amarillo Texas soon to make their future home.

N R C Club Picnic Plans After Quilting Meeting

Mrs. Arthur Grone hosted the N R C Wednesday afternoon with 12 members 2 children 6 visitors. Two contests awarded prizes to Mrs Leonard Richardson and Mrs A Kunecke. Refreshments served. Club votes to picnic Sunday Aug 31 and plans to meet September 10 with thanks extended.

Diller Man Suffers Paralytic Stroke During Visit

Mr. E L Loock of Diller suffered a paralytic stroke Sunday at the home of his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs E R Henrichs in Fairbury while visiting with his wife Mrs Loock and daughter Charlotte. One side of his body and his vocal organs were paralyzed as relatives and friends in Diller wish for his speedy recovery.
