A. J. Nelson arrived with his family and household goods as the new superintendent of the Diller public schools. He will have everything in readiness for the opening on September 2.
The record notes grain prices yesterday with wheat at 1.08 and corn 80 to 84 cents while several local residents and visitors gathered at the Diller picnic. It also reports road work on Highway 99, a gravel contract awarded to Roberts Construction, and various social visits, misadventures, and a house fire near Saylor.
The Nebraska state fair opens Friday August 30 and runs to Friday September 6, eight days of entertainment instruction and profit on a grand scale. Extending from six to eight days last year eased crowding and allowed the greatest attendance in fair history. thousands come from other states, but Nebraskans should attend to learn of the state’s resources and foster state pride.

The Diller Village Board estimated expenses for the year starting May 1 1929 at 3000 dollars and ordered filing and publication.
