Nellie Green of Lincoln visits for the Diller picnic and to see her parents H E Green. Rye seed offered at wheat price per bushel. Mrs Nancy Robertson hosts visiting relatives from Freemont.
Mrs Oval Cherry and two children from near Valentine Nebraska came Tuesday to visit with her mother Mrs Jennie Upson.
Mr and Mrs Milt Fry and Mr and Mrs Dr Fry visited Diller relatives from North Platte on Sunday for a family picnic.
Mrs Sophia Mathias and her granddaughter Pearl Fasnacht, along with Mr and Mrs John F t, visited Mrs Harry at the Lutheran hospital last week.
Miss Pauline Ewers of Fairbury accompanied the Green sisters in their concerts and was a guest at the home of her aunt Mrs. Isabelle Raymond during the two days picnic.

Fouts Mrs Geo Bixby and Jos Bixby Jr of Geneva Nebraska visited relatives here and in Steele City then rode home with Mr and Mrs L M Cavett in their car.
The Record reports Mrs. John Gretzinger has recovered from illness after a period of poor health. Her children are Daniel Gretzinger and wife to Bloomington Illinois, Ben Gretzinger and wife and daughter to Scottsbluff Nebraska, and John Gretzinger to Kansas City.
Exhibits for the county fair require time and money from those in charge to present products at their best. Fair management will handle showing property. producers must prepare and bring exhibits in show condition. Begin now to get ready and ensure success.
Last Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Ross Higland a birthday gathering for Mrs Higland drew a large crowd. Sixty four attended dinner as Harry surprised his mother by bringing a freezer of ice cream from Beatrice. Gifts included fancy work silverware and dishes.
Fairbury Nebraska notes the death toll from World War I. Carl E. Johnson died after battles in France following his return home. Leora Carter and Clarence O. Hurlbert were killed in action at St Mihiel. Oscar L. Mathiss of Diller and Benjamin R. Depp died from wounds or related causes after reaching home. The five all served in Company K, 355th Infantry, and were among the April 30 1918 call of soldiers from Fairbury.
The annual Diller picnic drew large crowds over two days at Hartzel's grove with rain easing traffic. A varied program featured band concerts, vocal solos, and speeches, while Wednesday's ball game saw Diller defeat Hurbine 13 to 0 and a local gun club held a practice match all afternoon.

Free admission tickets for the Thayer County Fair on Children's Day, Wednesday August 27, are available to school children through the paper editor. Mies Roth Davis returned from Roseville Oregon where she had been teaching. Her sister Mrs. Faye Thompson of Central City Nebr visited during their mother Mrs. Harry Davis’s illness. she is convalescing in a Beatrice hospital.
Vivian Waggoner entertained a group of little girls Saturday for her birthday. The party featured games and cheerful activities as guests enjoyed the celebration.
Mrs Ida McElwee and daughter Mrs Patrice Finelli with her little daughter, all of Sioux City Illinois, arrived Sunday via Fairbury after visiting Mrs McClay and Miss Bert Ballard. They are guests of their sister known as Aun Ol Ballard and planned a picnic to meet many old time friends.
Professor M. H. Swenk of the agricultural college spoke to a gathered crowd about the Hessian fly. He traced its spread from the Atlantic coast and described its life stages and the damage caused by larvae. He listed control methods including deep wheat stubble, destroying volunteer wheat, and delaying sowing until after fly emergence. He pledged to share sowing dates for the area via the Community Club and local telephone network.
