Congregational Church led by Rev. Robert A Helms with W A Snyder as superintendent. Sunday School scheduled at 10 o'clock.
St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran near Diller announces Sunday services with Rev L J Wolff and Supt S S, German service at 10:30, sermon from Luke 16 1 9 Make to Yourself Friends of the Mammon of Unrighteousness The annual Mission festival will be held in the forenoon with guest speaker Rev Hirsch from Lian Kansas and Rev Heinz from Lanham delivering sermons in German and English Attendees urged to join both services and welcome strangers

The J N C met with Mrs. Anna Hubka on Wednesday August 2 for a social afternoon and contests with high honors won by Miss Gladys Hays Mrs Linnie Bowen and Mrs Guy Clancy. Lunch followed. Guests included Frank Robinson Mrs Guy Clancy and Miss Jenette Posta. The next gathering is set for Wednesday August 23 with Mrs Keith Hays.
Rev and Mrs R A Helms are on a month’s vacation from church duties and spent a day last week visiting a daughter and her husband in Monroe.
Those taking part in the picnic parade meet at the Congregational church at 2 o clock Wednesday. Volunteers needing makeup help will march to the picnic ground so all may see it.
Last Sunday evening Mrs Lizzie Greider hosted a family gathering to mark her upcoming 87th birthday with her sons and daughters in law grandchildren and great grandchildren. Home made ice cream and cake were served as the group enjoyed a social evening. Those present included Mr and Mrs Harry Greider and daughter Wilma Mr and Mrs Roy Greider and daughter Irene Mr and Mrs Otto Fox Mr and Mrs Willis Clark and daughter Carolyn e Mrs Henry Scheele and Dorothy and Mr and Mrs George Freitag and Mary Elizabeth Darlene and Dwaine.
Mies Lucille Sparks returned home Friday after a four week vacation spanning Chicago and the eastern states. She visited the World’s Fair with stops at the Hall of States and Electrical Building and toured Lincoln Park and Marshall Field’s. She took lake trips on Lake Michigan and an auto journey 340 miles to Point Pleasant West Virginia, with a stay at Winona Lake Indiana.
The Diller park is rapidly equipped with donated benches and future tables for picnics. A furnace stove for outdoor cooking has been built near the site, fresh city water is available from the pumping station, and two toilets are added at the park outskirts. A large crowd is expected for picnic days on the 6th and 17th as readiness completes.
Alice Line visited Lincoln early this week with Mrs James Lowell and several friends, enjoying the city and companionship in a brief outing.
Albert Renz from Las Cruces New Mexico is visiting his parents Mr and Mrs Renz and family in town during a family gathering event.
An eight pound boy was born Monday at Odell hospital to Mr and Mrs Fred Sasse with Martha Eisenhauer noted.
Mrs. W. R. Langworthy of Ellis arrived last week to stay for a time with her sister in law Mrs. W. N. Sparks.
Mrs Bernice Creekmar and her brother Harry Welton of Fairbury spent Sunday with Mrs Helen Loock and family.
The notice announces there will be no picture show during the picnic next week with events moved or omitted on Wednesday and Thursday.
Mr and Mrs Chas Hilder and daughter Frances spent Saturday visiting at the home of his in law and sister Doctor Mrs Wm Weigel in Lincoln.
Mrs. E. J. Catlett hosted the girls class and teacher Mrs. R. W. Green from Congregational Sunday school at her home last Sunday as they studied the Sunday school lesson together.
Diller played two Sunday games losing 7 to 6 to Midway Oilers and winning 4 to 3 against Blue Springs. Scorekeeper Mr. Hoover sustained a broken nose from a stray ball.
The Diller Commercial club met at city hall to arrange tonight's NRA observance meeting. Businessmen from Eston Odellberg Hanover Lanham Steele Endicott Jansen Harbine will attend at the opera house at 8 30.
Wadeorday afternoon res A. R. Milow Franci Clark and Mrs C R Steffen took the S S class of boys to Ficks park for a warm but shaded afternoon. They enjoyed the water and shade, thanked Arthur Milow and Miss Alice Line for assistance, and named several boys who joined the group in eating and socializing.
Miss Pearl Mathias is visiting this week at the home of her uncle Roy Mathias in Ellis.

Charles Crinklaw, once a Diller businessman, was sentenced to five years in the state reformatory after pleading guilty in Lincoln to robbing a filling station in Bethany on two occasions.

George and Noah Sparks of Paxton Nebraska visited W. N. Sparks at his home. A rain totaling 1.15 inches fell over the period with .55 inches on Saturday and .60 inches Tuesday morning. The late planted corn shows better resilience than early plantings and some fields only yield fodder.
State Journal and Star reports Representative Frank Wells of this county traveled to the capital Saturday to urge the state highway department to gravel the road from Diller north to No. 3. He said the request falls under emergency funding and cites a bridge that was not rebuilt when the highway was improved.
