Diller public schools open Monday September 4 with registration September 2. Supt J H Frazee plans yearly shop and normal training, adds athletics and music, and considers home economics pending qualified staff. Booster tour August 4 will promote the Diller Picnic visiting several towns with a Santa Fe bus and planned street broadcasts.

Public Auction planned for estate of Margaret Albers
Margaret Albers estate administrator Ernest Albers announces a public auction on Wednesday August 9 at 7 PM to dispose of property and settle the estate. Auctioneer Wayne Stephens will handle the sale at the North of Diller School location with items including heaters furniture tools and household goods.

Fowlers Building Remodeling Starts for New Grocery
Work began Monday on the remodeling of Fowler's building on Commercial Street to house a new grocery. Ernest Schulz is the contractor, with a new foundation, lowering the structure, interior renovation, a walk in refrigerator, and 30 feet of concrete flooring for a cream and egg department. Completion is expected in 30 days. A city park picnic Saturday included Mr. and Mrs. Bert Weaver, Donnie of Beatrice, Mr. and Mrs. John Hutteomeyer and Victor, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Horsky and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schulz and Elva Jean, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Blaser and family.

Hubka Serves in Far East With Naval Air Force
Hubka USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Hubka, serves in the far east. He is stationed at a remote base from which flights over enemy territory are made on submarine patrol. He works as assistant pilot and navigator in the naval air force.
