Cattle Struck by Burlington Train Near Duell
Early Tuesday morning eastern bound Burlington train No 14 struck a herd of 43 cattle near Duell. Fifteen were killed instantly, nineteen were fatally injured and had to be killed, nine escaped. Twenty cattle belonged to Frank Bevan, ten to Frank Hubka, four to John Bures. The herd broke a pasture fence and lined the track. engineer Bill Tipton saw the cattle as the train rounded a curve and could not stop in time.
