Weather swings from record heat to cool spell
Residents noted a quick shift from 90 degrees as a record high for the month to a Tuesday night low of 28 degrees. Rain on Monday totaled 0.30 inches aiding moisture scarce for crops, topsoil drying while subsoil remains ample. 1960 rainfall to date stands at 3.14 inches, well below 1949 levels. Cool weather delays crops though wheat appears strong, with alfalfa first cut likely small.
