Miss Pearl Thompson serves as clerk at Cully's store while Frank Garton and his daughter are bedfast with flu. John Wrigley of Harbine is seriously ill with flu and kidney complications. A baby girl weighing eight pounds was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Freitag on April 14. Dr. and Mrs. Paul Ludwick and Bobbie of Lincoln visited Diller over the weekend.
J. G. Hilder is visiting Lincoln at the home of his daughter and son in law Mr. and Mrs. Wm Weigel. He is getting acquainted with their little daughter Phyllis.
F Hartzel shipped two car loads of cattle from his feed lots south of town on Monday. He still holds three more car loads on full feed awaiting sale.
Magdalene Wehling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Wehling, was sitting on her father's lap when the manure spreader control lever tore a nail from one finger on Monday.
Ab. Bristols mother who visited here returned home Sunday. Asa Richardson drove home a new four door Whippet on Wednesday. Mayor S C Moser now has a Whippet after trading his Ford. Mrs Joe Grabber injured a finger in a corn shelter Monday. Mrs W S Filley returned early this week from Benkelman visits in the state.

This week showcases ready made Peter Pan dresses in vivid fast colors on display. The store invites all shoppers to view the famous Peter Pan line and experience the cambric style offerings.
Mesdames H. K. Shutt and W. M. Henrichs returned from St. Edwards Nebraska where they visited their ailing mother. Mr. Shutt met them at Columbus with his car.
C L and C E Waggoner attended the Seward gun club shoot as fifty expert shots from eastern Nebraska competed. Poor wind and cold weather affected scoring. The diamond trophy went to J B Klatz of Exeter after a shoot off with O W Luse of Wilber. Klatz hit twenty five straight to Luse’s twenty three. R A Brown of Lincoln led with 146 of 150, while C L Waggoner scored 144 and C E Waggoner 141.
The Diller schools will observe Education Day on Friday April 27 as noted in the school column. City water was briefly shut off Wednesday during hydrant repairs near the city hall. Eleanor Diehl Mildred May born and Clarice Moffit university students returned to Lincoln in their new Buick 2 door sedan after visiting home folks.
Miss Alice Line, longtime Amhurst teacher, was promoted to principal with a salary raise. An attempt to hold a city hall meeting Monday night about a Diller picnic drew few attendees, so little was done and another meeting is likely.
Mr and Mrs C B Ashcraft recently married at Fairbury have begun housekeeping in the Mayborn residence formerly owned by S F Clark. Mr Ashcraft was once in the Ellis grain business and now manages the Crittenden Grain Co elevator here.
The N R C Club met at Mrs Ben Seibolts on April 18 with twelve members present and visitors Miss Edna Jobman Alma Cissna and Violet Grone. After officer elections attendees did a quilt project and enjoyed luncheon.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Steffen and son Richard Roe of Manhatta Kans spent the weekend with Diller relatives. Clarence returned Sunday while Mrs Steffen remained and is spending the week with her father W C Line. Mrs Line visits their daughter Mrs Paul Beckwith in Lincoln as they plan a move to Omaha.
Mr and Mrs E E McCune hosted a birthday gathering Tuesday evening in Diller. Their children arrived with baskets and a party for Mr McCune, joined by C W McCune family Roy McCune family Orvil McCune and Will Bowers. The cake bore 57 candles and Ed blew them all out in one breath.
The Dorcas class of the M. E. Sunday School met in the church basement on Tuesday afternoon April 17. The large attendance enjoyed a pleasant program with charades and a joke about lick ers. Mrs Carrico resigned due to ill health and Theo Henrichs was temporarily elected, with Fred Frisbie succeeding to the former vice president role. A run course was served by Mesdames Theo, Fred, Irving Filley, Frank Pearce and Roy Geer.
Mrs. W. N. Sparks is recovering from a serious illness and was able to be out again, resuming limited activities and attendance in the community.
Mrs G B Cassell of Steele City is in Clarkson hospital Omaha after a strangulated hernia operation performed last week.
Mrs. Clara Myers and Miss Emma Glathar called on Miss L. O. Ballard at the home of her sisters Mrs. Etta McClay and Miss Bert Ballard in Fairbury on Tuesday.
