Mayor Thomas Copeland and his daughter Mrs Richard Edgington traveled to Republic Nebraska for the wedding of John Stotts oldest daughter, the couple visiting Diller relatives and friends before returning.

The Diller Telephone Co installs a new switchboard causing impaired service this today. Crews expect all lines connected soon and service to be better than ever.
The Endicott schoolhouse burned Wednesday between 8 and 4 o clock. All children escaped safely. Fire traced to a defective flue. Building valued around $5 000 with $3 000 insurance. Viewers appointed by county commissioners to examine a proposed road through Clark's farm west of town reported favorably.
Chester Sparks suffered severe burns to both hands Monday evening while trying to extinguish a fire in the cotton batting at the Sparks and Folkers store. The blaze reportedly started from a spark from a match used to light a pipe on the stove, similar to a prior incident months earlier.
The Epworth League of the Diller M. E. church schedules an entertainment in May featuring a military fog drill. A. A. Murdock of Wymiore will manage, having twenty years of experience with the artillery battery stationed there.

A barn on Henry Watson's farm near Diller burned Saturday afternoon along with four head of horses and mules harnesses and feed belonging to Chas Babb the tenant who was away. The cause is unknown but neighbors have started a subscription to help replace the team and harness valued at about $150.
Clara Woods Zoli Lambert and Arnold Fouts are absent this week. Primary enrollment last month was forty five with irregular attendance due to illness. Students show interest in the garden with radishes and lettuce soon ready. The second grade produced notable stories by Mary Ellen Line Arthur Timm and Vern Scott. Friday afternoon’s storm reduced attendance and the High School and Grammar rooms entertained themselves by spelling down.
Miss Lillie Osborn to return home after May 1 and offer music lessons to former pupils and new students. A light engine struck a push car on the Condon farm east of town. three men fled the scene with only the car damaged.

Chie Ny Mur died at his residence at 1 PM of suspected liver cancer. Buried from M E church Tuesday with Rev Frank Mills presiding. Born March 15 1864 in York Springs Pennsylvania, he moved to Davenport in 1880 and later Diller in 1884. He was 40 years and 27 days old. He worked as a blacksmith, married Lottie Mason in 1893, leaving a wife and son. He was a member of Masonic and A O U W with joint burial. He carried life insurance and left a comfortable home. Jesse W. Miller described as honest and upright.
The C R J P railroad filed a mortgage for 163 million dollars with Central Trust Co of New York and David R Francis trustees. It covers the road and part of rolling stock to be marked as covered. Filing cost in the county was 40.70 dollars after scrutiny by County Clerk Houston and Wells M Cook.
The last Sunday change in time brought the evening passenger to arrive at 4 58. This is the only change at the station and the new card may be revised on the 17th inst.

The Methodist Episcopal Church announces preaching on alternate Sundays morning and evening. Sunday School starts at 10. A large meeting is held every Thursday evening. Society meetings occur every two weeks. Pastor: Mirus.
The Presbyterian church advertises weekly sermons every Sunday morning and evening. Sunday school is at 10 o'clock, with a meeting on Wednesday evenings.
ALR and A M Naphtali Lodge No 206 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons meets on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings in their hall over People's State Bank Visiting brethren are cordially invited to attend
C E S Naomi Chapee 2 Bo 4 notes the Order Eastern Star meets first and third Tuesday evenings in the Masonic hall with visiting members always welcomed.
Diller Camp No 1668 Modern Woodmen of America meets on the first and third Saturdays in Masonichalle. Visiting brothers in good standing are invited to attend these sessions.
Diller Lodge No 138 Ancient Order United Workmen holds meetings on the second and fourth Saturdays each month in a hall. Brethren are welcomed to attend.
W O W on Dill et Camp No 206 invites visiting brethren in good standing to meetings the first and third Wednesday night each month at a Masonic Hall.
Pleasant Lodge Degrees of Honor meets second and fourth Saturday afternoons at 280 o'clock in the Masonic hall. Visiting members are cordially received.
