The weekend brought near 70s warmth then a drizzle that turned to snow. By Tuesday night only light snow lingered and fields collected about 0.40 inches of moisture. Wednesday stayed chilly with temperatures in the 20s. Forecasters expect a warmer weekend ahead.
Temperature readings show clear and cloudy conditions with courtesy note to Dr. B. Viers.
Eighty votes cast in Village of dit and School District 70 election. Lloyd Ruyle and Alfred Sasne were unopposed for two year trustee terms. Max Logan and Chester Weaver re-elected to three year terms. Earl Weigel and Herman Stahl faced opposition. Voters 66 at the polls. County office closed April 6 to 12.
Alfie Eick celebrated his 77th birthday on April 1. The Burlington railroad seeks permission from the state railway commission to remove trains 89-90 and 23-24. Plans propose rerouting these trains from the Kansas City Lincoln line through Tecumseh and Table Rock to operate via Wymore to Kansas City.
Clerks of election Mrs Irene Schultin and Mrs Pearl Blauser served as clerks with Allie Bick Filley and Charley Fisher acting as judges. Charley Fisher was summoned home due to his wife’s illness, and Clifford Blauser filled his duties for the remainder of the day.
Fred Meyerhoff, 79, died Tuesday morning at his southeast of Diller home. Surviving are his wife and one. Funeral arrangements are pending at Vance Funeral Home in Odell. Local church services listed for Holy Week and Easter across St Pauls, St Johns, Methodist, and Congregational churches.
The April 2 garden club meeting will be held at Dora Miller's home at 8 p.m. Callers Sunday included Mr. and Mrs. Hank Grabher and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grabher, Violet of Beatrice, and Mrs. Frank Grabher. The PWF state highway project from the Gage County line to Fairbury progresses with construction planned in 1951 using federal matching funds. county officials Abrends and Elgert support it, while Christ preferred Plymouth to Hwy 3 first.
Pot luck dinner hosted March 26 at the Girl Scout Cabin in Fairbury with guests including Raymond Nixon and Connie Viot Logan family and the Lueck and Mclotyre households. Also notes funeral services for Elia Plager at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
Members met after services and approved selling the church parsonage to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Amos. Census taker Maurice McIntyre will cover Pleasant precinct. Diller census taker not yet chosen.
I. O. Arthur dies in Seattle after family members contract measles. Mrs. Arthur reported her husband died Tuesday at a Seattle hospital amid health concerns affecting the household.
Mr and Mrs Glenn Bull welcomed a daughter Linde Sue born April 4 at St Elizabeth hospital Lincoln. The couple already has daughter Rebecca Jane. Glenn works at Elgin Watch Co.
L. O. Royle has renewed the lease of the Farmers Grain Company elevator for another twelve months. The arrangement keeps Royle operating the facility through the next year under the same terms.
