Mrs Roy Patton is recovering from a serious illness. Mr and Mrs S C Hutchinson motored to Lincoln yesterday. Dr Ralph Ludwick wife and family visited their parents in Diller Sunday. Miss Nellie Green of Lincoln spent Saturday and Sunday visiting with Diller relatives.
E L Loock was summoned to Peoria by telegram about a niece’s death. Willis Clark Ray Eick hosted Sunday dinner with Mayor S C Moser and Miss Erma Franzen. Road crews advance on the P W F highway between Diller and Fairbury with gravel bed near completion. Beatrice visitors include J A Ramsey and family at George Riddle’s, and Mollie Culver with daughters Bettie and Josephine.
The P. H. Club surprised Mrs. Helen Bevan Friday evening for her birthday. Opal Glathar won high score and George Roseman had the low. Refreshments followed with sandwiches pickles pie coffee and cocoa as friends wished Helen many more happy returns.
Pleasant precinct gains candidate John F. Plager for the First Commissioner District. He filed Monday at strong friend solicitation as the fourth filer, joining Frank Roseman George Patterson of Newton County and Ford Gerard of Ock Creek precinct, with Endicott precinct also in the district.
Sheriff Tippen toured town on official business Tuesday while Water Commissioner J Blauser works on reroofing his residence. A baby boy was born to Mr and Mrs Martin Weers near Diller three miles west on the 19th of the alt.
A marriage license was issued last Friday in Lincoln for George D. Sasse of Diller and Anna E Hahn of Daykin.
Mr and Mrs Alf Mayborn and Mrs O J Mayborn attended the funeral for Mrs Wm Eby an old family friend in Beatrice on Monday. Miss Marguerite Green Fremont teacher visited during spring vacation with home folks, accompanied from Lincoln by ekitttle sen of Mr and Mrs V A Raymond visiting Diller relatives.
W F Eigenberg has taken over from C B Ashcraft at the Crittenden Grain Co in Wil ler. Eigenberg comes from Gurley Nebraska with his wife and resides on the John Saath off property. Ashcraft is unsure of his next move but reluctant to leave Diller and the friends there.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Jones of Beatrice visited Diller on Wednesday. Jones, experienced in the chautauqua business, may bring a season show without signed contracts, relying on ticket sales. Several tickets have already been subscribed, with more announcements to follow.
Election day in Diller Nebraska ran from 9 A M to 7 P M with Sam Thompson W N Sparks and John Garico as Judges and Mrs Leo Dressen and Mrs Florence Henrichs as Clerks. Village results elect Holle Andrews and Anderson to two year council terms. Mayor Moser not on ballot received 13. School trustees J Smith Diller and Dr S B Wiers elected. Cloyd Cully and John Carico not chosen. Erma Jansen listed as sick.
Beginners piano lessons advertised at a reasonable rate by Marguerite Velte. A nine pound boy was born to Mr and Mrs Less Barber on Saturday March th.
Mrs Myrtle Northup arrived in Fairbury on Wednesday to begin duties as a census enumerator in the 2nd Ward, taking over local responsibilities.
Mr A Mayborn led groups from Beatrice to Omaha Wednesday to attend to cattle feed yards. Ray Wheeler from St Edwards arrived Tuesday to visit his sisters Mrs H K Shutt and Mrs W M Henrichs, but developed diphtheria and is quarantined at the Shutt home with nurse Mrs Beebee assisting.
The Women’s Club meets April nine at eight with the program Beautiful April. Hostess Marguerite Velte and assistants Miss Morton and Miss Gregg lead the event. Speakers include Mrs Fred Frisbie and Mrs B Bell on spring roll call and Nebraska birds by Mrs C B Calloway. Conservation of wild flowers features as a whistling solo and special music.
Mrs Opal Giathar was surprised Saturday evening March 22 as the P H club and friends gathered to celebrate. Opal Giathar won the champ rook prize with Max Hill taking the low prize. Refreshments included two cakes fruit salad and coffee. Two birthday cakes were baked by Mrs Hill and Mrs Roseman featuring angel food and sunshine cake decorations.
The Library Association will hold its annual meeting Monday evening April 7 in the Library room. Reports of the past year will be presented and officers for the ensuing year will be elected.
Dedrich Lottman passed away at his parents Mr. and Mrs. Onka Lottman home Thursday morning at 6 o clock. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 o'clock from the Lutheran church.
The Diller Opera House manager has purchased a two head picture machine to be installed this week. It will be able to show a full show without changing reels, cutting show time by half and leaving more time for weekend shopping.
Dorcas Kensington of the M. E. Sunday School held a March 27 meeting. Nine members were present. Two committees were appointed for the coming year: Visiting committee Mrs. Nancy Robertson and Mrs. Carrico. Flowers committee Mrs. James Hayes Mrs. F Frisbie and Mrs. Loock. Members enjoyed two Irish games and a reading by Marguerite Velte titled Papa was Stumped. The entertainment committee included Mesdames James Hays Geo Champ E Loock Chas Hayes and Myrtle Northup. Farmers union gas and oils callers are directed to Farmers store. Earl Stefford promotes a complete line of guaranteed lawn and garden equipment at Gamble's including hoes rakes lawn brooms and a 7c per ft garden hose. A 16 in Ball Bearing and a lawn mower priced at 7.95 are advertised.
The Diller markets quoted yesterday prices for grain and produce including wheat at 0.88 dollars per bushel corn 0.68 to 0.70, oats 0.45, cream 0.36, eggs 0.20, heavy hens 0.22, and roosters 0.10.
