Married Fifty Years Roelfs Celebrate Golden Anniversary

Mr and Mrs George Roelfs of five miles northwest of Diller marked their fifty year marriage last Sunday. Born in Germany, they immigrated to the US in 1868 and settled in Jefferson County about ten years ago. Their home drew many relatives and friends for a feast prepared by their daughter Halie and remarks by Rev Fitting of St Pauls German Lutheran Church.

Tragic Prairie Fire Claims J. H. Radloff Life

J H Radloff former Oakley resident died after fleeing a wind driven prairie fire that swept a creek bottom where he stood to help fight the blaze. He succumbed Monday evening after being brought to town for treatment. He leaves a wife six children and siblings in Canada Oklahoma and Long Island Kansas. Funeral held March 17 at the Oakley Methodist Church.
