Philadelphia man John Oliver recounts a dramatic recovery after using Electric Ritters. F. D. Miller, former principal of the Diller outlie-schools, has been in Alabama working for the National Home Protectors, a fraternal benefit society for colored people, and will soon travel to Kentucky to continue his work with the order.
Milton Zimmerman, two miles north of Beatrice, loses two horses and a 15-year-old boy narrowly escapes in a runaway caused by a passing traction engine. Four abreast team bolted, the boy fell clear, but inside horses escaped serious harm while the outside pair were fatally injured with one losing a hind leg.
The partnership of Bo. Fe- Lighter and S.C. Hutchinson doing business as Lighter & Hutchinson is dissolved by mutual consent. Accounts due the firm may be paid to either party who will receipt for the same. Bo F. Lighter. S.C. Hutchinson.
Jegne Pelser, arrested near Steele City, pleaded guilty to stealing a buggy in Tecumseh. The district court sentenced him to 18 months in the penitentiary and Sheriff Chase transported him to Lincoln, marking a newsy string of events around his arrest and wedding day.
Various gossip items from Fairbury, Odell, Beatrice and surrounding towns. People discuss Easter gloves, shop visits, and social calls. A golden eagle killed near Beatrice weighs twenty pounds. Five head of horses disappeared from Hick Teiman's pasture two miles south of Diller on Friday night. John Teiman searched the neighborhood and notified nearby towns but found no trace until Monday morning when the horses returned home gaunt and exhausted. It is suspected a gyne may have stolen the animals and released them when unable to sell.
The writer visits Diller for a few hours and notes rapid town growth with brick buildings rising and others lowered to street grade. A new bank named Diller State Bank opens with local business and surrounding farmers backing it. J W Sutton moves south and erects a large glass-front store with a fine drug shop, reflecting a neat and prosperous town.
Report shows 29 enrolled with average attendance 24 and 6 tardies. Present daily are Pearl, Arthur and Ima Radloff, Maude Lealh and Ha Stewart. Absent one day are Laurence and Irene Blauser, Mianie Hantent. Teacher.
