County agriculturist Leo Gemmer Wm VanOrden a Hancock merchant and land agent Napoleon Hruder from Hancock visited Crystal Falls last Tuesday to tour sheep herds near Tolen's Spur. Doelle delayed by two drives, engine trouble delayed the group, they later moved to Michigamme and returned to Crystal Falls for supper.

Standard Oil seeks site in Crystal Falls for a filling station

Mr Shields of Standard Oil visited The Diamond Drill office in Crystal Park last week and spoke of plans to build in Crystal Falls if a suitable site is found. He noted strict handling restrictions for safety, including a rule that unloading tracks be 80 feet apart to prevent ignition. The company has not yet determined concrete actions in Crystal Falls.

Farewell to Band Leader Mr and Mrs Wilson

Members of the McKinney Steel band held a farewell party for Mr and Mrs Lee Wilson at the Eagles hall last Wednesday night. Attendance was band members and families with a fine supper followed by dancing and vocal selections by Minx Bessie Sensiba. A traveling bag was presented to Mr Winnow. The Wilsons depart tomorrow for Ann Arbor where Mr Wilson will attend dental college.

Nearly 100 friends gathered Wednesday evening to honor Mr and Mrs Nick Mannista for their 20th wedding anniversary. A dainty lunch was served and the event ended in a very pleasant social mood. Guests presented silverware and a library table as gifts.
