Colored Representation Demands in Louisiana Race
The Democratic Press reports a radical pamphlet from Louisiana urging full black representation in Congress. It calls for at least two of seven seats for Black voters, claims equality as a right, and condemns Reconstruction as a failure if color-based exclusion persists. It argues the new Congress must empower universal suffrage and restore civil rights regardless of race.
