A young Symphorien Baliveau seeks fame in Paris after meeting the famed duelist Martial Roque. He plans a pistol duel to gain celebrity, but misreads his rival and arranges swift tailor and bootmaker consultations to cover costs, fearing exposure as he schemes for a quick rise.
Two prospectors White and Williams report a cliff dwellers village in an inaccessible Bradshaw canyon along Willow Canyon with about 260 dwellings.
