Democratic Convention in Columbus Opens Campaign
The Democratic State Convention met at the Opera House in Columbus with Hon. A. T. Walling as temporary chairman and Gen. Durbin Ward later named permanent president. The body denounced Republican charges, praised state reforms, and adopted a platform calling for silver remonetization, greenbacks, and broad civil and political reforms.
