Gigantic Circus Giant: Uncle John's Tale and Ohio Convention
In a Saturday night chat at Jake Aug's Clubhouse, Uncle John recounted a nine-foot "Polonaisean Mercurer" giant from a traveling circus. The lazy, quarrelsome performer, who only drank and shirked duties, sparked a dramatic confrontation before a two hours' interview ending with the giant back on stage. The tale foreshadows a firm stance against employing such giants. The Ohio Democratic State Convention in Columbus opened with temporary officers, speeches, and a lengthy nomination process for governor and other state posts, promising reforms and a platform critiquing Republican financial policy and supporting local self-government and currency measures.
