NLER WOULD FIGHT RESIGNS CAPTAINCY ENLISTS IN INFANTRY
Corporal Charles Aler of the general service infantry, U.S. Army, arrived Saturday to spend leave with his mother Mrs KE B Aler of North Gay Street. Aler, with 11 years in the regular army including time in the Philippine Islands and the Mexican border, resigned his captaincy to reenlist in the infantry for front line service. He has passed overseas exams and expects to be in France. he left Sunday night for the Fort Thomas replacement camp in Kentucky.

The extra certificates for 20 000 pounds of sugar for canning were all used by 3 o clock Saturday. Secretary Leroy Mayer of the Chamber of Commerce reported about 8 000 people visited the headquarters that day. An allotment of pounds went out through the city and was gone at noon.
