French troops push within three miles of Feretn Tardenois, a crossroads town vital to German communications in the region. The town is under heavy daily bombardment from Allied air forces as operations continue.

Elias J. Jacoby of Indianapolis rose to the office of Imperial Potentate of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine for North America at the Imperial Council meeting in Atlantic City. He had long practiced law with the late Charles W. Fairbanks, former vice president of the United States, and now serves as high ranking leader in the Shrine fraternal organization.

The shipment reached a French port but was retained in Switzerland long enough for reshipment into Germany. The sugar lay in a French warehouse for three years and was sold at auction. The Young Men's Christian Association bought the sugar and its French factories are turning it into confections for soldiers. The sugar card in France grants one pound per month.
Casualty totals show 188 army casualties with 32 killed in action and 123 wounded severely. Ohio entries include John J. The Pall Mall Gazette reports rumors of a major British advance toward Pisin between Rheims and Soissons. It also notes French progress on another Aisne Marne sector and suggests the German crown prince's forces are in a position from which escape appears unlikely.
American forces push forward one to two miles beyond the enemy lines northwest of Jaulgonne as reported by General Pershing in yesterday's communique. The advance comes during ongoing attacks between the Oureq and the Marnese with further gains announced from the war department.

Dublin June 23 Correspondence reports Sinn Fein raids across Ireland with owners sometimes resisting. In Ferbane six attackers with blackened faces targeted Wontin's house. a retired officer captured two raiders. In Tulsk Roscommon a farmer wrested his gun back and attackers fled. Police later seized weapons and a hoard of one hundred fifty pounds in silver as counter raids.
Corporal Antoine Vial, a peasant farmer near Lyons, received the military medal for helping repel a German raid in the Argonne. He and a small French force killed seven of seventy three attackers and wounded several others, despite being wounded by a grenade. The Germans withdrew after sustaining heavy casualties and prisoners.
