Two Die in Motordrome Crash Near Cincinnati
Cincinnati July 31 Two persons were killed and 11 others seriously injured in a Lagoon motordrome accident across the river from Cincinnati. Odin Johnson of Salt Lake City, captain of the Cincinnati team, drove to the track’s edge and crashed into an electric light pole. The contact of the live wire with the machine exploded the gasoline tank, burning spectators. Johnson died with his wife. William Davis, a boy, was killed. A large leatherback turtle weighing 866 pounds joined the New York Central Park menagerie on July 31, weighing 5 feet 4 inches from nose to tail and 5 feet 6 inches across the shell. It was caught in the Pacific off California and is among the deep sea species on display.
