P. T. A. Presents an Interesting Thanksgiving Program

The P T A meeting at Dalton High School Auditorium November featured Myron Johnson as president. A eighth grade program opened with a Thanksgiving poem read by John Sprunger, then a duet by Marilyn Marthy and Marlene Moser. Music included violin, flute, piano solos by Maxine Mumaw, a trio “Autumn Lullaby,” and a girls chorus. Mrs Matthey Dr Anderson of Wooster College spoke on Your Childs Mental Hygiene.

Haverstock and Davis Sell Out to New Firm in Dalton

Haverstock and Davis, longtime DeSoto Plymouth dealers in Dalton for 30 years, will dissolve December 31 1950 after selling to G G Grimm of Wooster. Grimm takes possession January 1 1951. Wm Haverstock retires while Harold Davis and Wm Blethyn join the new firm’s staff.

Ziegler Family Visits Dalton Amid Weather Warnings

Mr G J Ziegler and son Keith of Wyandotte Michigan visited Dalton relatives last Saturday. Heavy rain and snow with freezing temps produced the season’s first icy streets. Kathryn Seager spoke on sewing methods at a regional Vocational Economics meeting in Massillon. Kenneth Leisy of the Navy, a Wake Island guard, is son of Mrs Alma Leisy and Mrs Hollis Tinsler. Mrs Tinsler and her husband’s daughter arrived from Biloxi Camp where Sgt Tinsler will soon head to Korea via San Francisco.

High Winds Knock Out Power And Block Tracks

A Sunday night storm caused a power outage for about an hour early Monday morning. A tree fell across the W and L E tracks east of town, stopping traffic until removal.

Thanksgiving Service at Methodist Church Wednesday

The annual community Thanksgiving service will be held at the Methodist church this Wednesday evening November 22 at 8 o'clock. Rev. L. M. Marker will deliver the message and the union choir will provide the music.

Fredericksburg Church of Christ wedding ties two families

Miss Ruth Bricker daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert D Bricker of Fredericksburg R D 2 and Clayton Wagner son of Mr and Mrs W Wagner of Dalton R D 1 were married October 29 at 430 p m in the Fredericksburg Church of Christ with Rev John Richardson officiating. The bride wore champagne satin and carried talisman roses. Maid of honor was Wilda Bricker and best man David Roy Wagner. A reception for 100 followed at the church. The couple planned a Niagara Falls trip and will reside in Dalton R D 1.

Family Night at Dalton Methodist Church

A Wednesday family night at the Methodist Church of Dalton drew 55 attendees. The Slussers led the program with group singing and solo performances by Barbara Moser and Johnny Mumaw. Blanch Stockham presented a book review. Rev. E Flauhaus offered the closing prayer. A Thanksgiving fruit centerpiece graced the table, and the social committee hosted a covered dish supper.

Presbyterian Circle Hosts November Meeting At Home

Mrs Sam Martin with Mrs Alfred Begert hosted Circle No 1 of the Presbyterian church for the November gathering. Miss Eleanor Shisler led business while Mrs C R Goudy led devotionals on Practical Faith from Jeremiah. Mrs Al Cazan reviewed a Japanese mission school article and a sermon How Prayer Changes your Life. A discussion followed as hostesses served salad and coffee.

The Woman's Society of Christian Service met at Mrs Walliam Blethyn's home with 22 members. Mrs Kile Lintern led business arrangements. Christmas gifts go to the Friendship Home Cincinnati Ohio. Two Men Plead Guilty In City Court

In Mayor Hoobler's court Robert Adams 26 of Crestline and Charles A Massie 20 of Sterling each pleaded guilty to passing a car at intersections. Both were fined 10 dollars plus costs. Coming Sunday The American Weekly in Sunday Chicago Herald America magazine features a dog traveling 1000 miles to find his master.

Fire damages Ohio Bell building roof near Gazette shop

A temporary roof on a pre fabricated Ohio Bell building adjoining the Gazette shop collapsed just before press time. It wrecked a heater and set fire to lumber and insulation. Fire department responded quickly and contained the blaze. Contractor Martin could not estimate damages.

Rural home fire damages Wade Hofstetter residence

Fire at the Wade Hofstetter home on Stanwood Road 114 miles south of East Greenville around 9 30 Sunday night caused a stove heatrola to burn through the floor and ruin the kitchen. The fire was extinguished with the building saved and total damages estimated at 2000 dollars with coverage. The family found the house upon returning home.

Dalton man injured after walking into car

Ernest J Limbach aged 64 of R D 2 Dalton was struck by a car at 2nd street and Cherry avenue NE Canton. He received four stitches for a forehead cut and multiple bruises but no broken bones. He was treated at Mercy hospital and returned home near West Lebanon.

Dalton pupils raise 7188 for Jr Red Cross drive

Miss Kathryn Seager reports total donations of 7188 from Dalton schools. Elementary grades 1 to 8 contributed 4393 with 320 pupils giving and 29 gift boxes. High school pupils added 2795 from 154 students.
