The Methodist Women's Society of Christian Service met in church parlors Tuesday November 12 with 14 members present. Mrs Robert Mumaw led devotions on the theme What a Christian Woman Reads and the group displayed books and devotional material. Mrs Raymond Weisgarber reviewed the book Through Gates of Splendor, a true missionary story.
The newspaper sets copy deadlines for next week with ads due 12 noon Monday and news by 4:00 p.m. Monday. Staff worries about a recurring flu bug impacting the composing room, risking another early-week disruption.

Rev. Paul Price will return to the pulpit at Dalton Methodist Church this Sunday. Worship starts at 10 45 a.m. with Mrs. Glen Berg at the organ and special music by the Senior Choir. Sunday School begins at 9 30 a.m. led by Supt. James Weisgarber.
Mr Dallas Hamsher, general vice chairman primary gifts phase, Dunlap Memorial hospital expansion program, announces three divisional chairmen. Nelson Douglas leads government divisions, Robert Hershey heads clubs and organizations, Harley Himes oversees area divisions.
James F. Horst of Orrville will establish the Horst Manufacturing Co in Dalton on East Main St. Production to start by December 1 with three to four skilled full time workers. The move is backed by the Dalton Chamber of Commerce and local business leaders as Dalton grows with new industries.
Carl Brown recovers from recent surgery at home. Dean and Nora McAfee and Macy visit Emma Wecht in Dunlap hospital after injuries from a fall. Homemakers Club dinner at 6 30 in school cafeteria with entertainment by the Slabach Sisters. Elmer Wenger also recovering from knee injury in Wooster. Dinner guests at Glenn Lauder's include Ed Schwary Canton Arch Neale and Wilhard Yeakley Smithville Sterling. Cloyce Clark visits brother in Akron.
Dalton High School graduate Willard Brubaker of North Lawrence Ohio begins a one year term with the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities serving as an orderly at Sullivan County Nursing Home in Claremont New Hampshire. He has worked as a stockman for Kidron Electric and is active in Pleasant View Mennonite Church. The Claremont unit began in March 1963 with seven volunteers assisting in nursing home care and local church programs. The Gospel Witness Crusaders Inc a not for profit incorporated in Dalton with officers H Jason Good Beulah Good and Forest R Kornhaus listed as agents and incorporator Don Edgar Flath of Dalton.
The Presbyterian church lists communicants sessions Sunday praise service guest Rev David L Zaverink from Glenville Cleveland. Choir directed by Kay Rogers with organist Mrs John Sommer. Youth Group meets 7 30 pm at Richard Moser home. Session 8 pm Monday at manse. Junior choir 3 15 pm. Women Association 8 pm Tuesday with Wooster Baptist guests. Bible study 8 15 pm Wednesday and choir 7 15 pm.
Mayor Slusser attended the Ohio Mayors meeting in Plymouth and was elected secretary treasurer of the organization. The next meeting will be held in Dalton in January. Also Mrs. James Swartz announced the birth of a daughter Cynthia Marie.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will administer the Sacrament of Holy Baptism during morning worship at 10:40 with nursery care from 9:15. A church youth event is set for Sunday evening, and other activities include St. John’s meeting Tuesday and choir rehearsal Wednesday. No catechism on Saturday November 30.
Rotary Monday night featured film Lets Explore Ohio a resource summary presented by chairman Fred Limbach. Guests included Ed Harig Dr Dowell from Massillon Rev Vivian from Orrville and Mr Valentine from North Canton.

PFC William E Edwards 24 of Dalton took part in Exercise Sky Soldier IV in southern Formosa. The seven day drill ended in late October with US 173rd Airborne Brigade and ROC airborne units repelling a simulated aggressor as Chinese and American air forces provided close air support. Edwards joined the Army in October 1961 and arrived overseas July 1962 after basic training. He is an automatic rifleman with Company A 2nd Battalion 503rd Infantry on Okinawa. He attended Dalton High School and worked at Timken Roller Bearing Co Gambrinus before enlistment.
