Street Signs And Local News From Dalton Area

Street signs are being installed with green boards and yellow letters as the village council sorts property numbers. Mr and Mrs Geo Leitner announce a granddaughter’s birth in Wooster at Beeson Hospital. A tie for councilman between E C Gonter and J N Moser is decided in favor of Gonter at the county board of elections. Articles cover a national magazine ad on surveillance, pheasant and rabbit hunting updates, a church missionary offering of 64.72, and a Dalton resident Clare Mumaw in a Newport News chase ending in recovery of $800.

Purchase Site for Park by Community Club

At the November meeting W. P. Slusser presented a deed for six acres to form a community park. The committee members were C. R. Goudy Clarence Kraus and Carl Lawrence. They raised 500 dollars with a 100 dollar gift from Mr and Mrs C F Buchwalter. The committee was formed as a park commission to hire a foreman for land clearing with the firemen doing the work. A nominating committee was named to select ten names for ten officers to be installed in January. Officials named to confer on Christmas street lighting were G A Berg Bill Adams C F Buchwalter and C V Amstutz. 150 street signs were completed and to be installed next week.

Village Council Accepts Club Land Deed

A community club deed transferring a tract of land to the village was presented and accepted at Friday night council meeting. On motion by Mr Gonter seconded by Mr Mumaw the deed was approved and provisions made to have it recorded.

Forrer Kountz Wed In United Presbyterian Parsonage

Miss Sylvia Forrer of Dalton and Walter Kountz son of Mr and Mrs Harry Kountz of Wooster wed at the United Presbyterian parsonage. Rev R G Pilkerton officiated at 2 30 p m on Sunday Nov 9. The ceremony coincided with the 48th wedding anniversary of the bride’s grandparents Mr and Mrs John Bartman. The bride wore a victory blue velvet street length dress with red rose corsage and her mother’s gold watch as something old. She attended Dalton high school and worked at the Book Restaurant. the groom works at Wooster Rubber Co. They will reside in a newly furnished home near Wooster.

The official thermometer at Dalton High School recorded highs and lows for the week of November 12 to 18 at 8:00 a.m. Monday saw a high of 60 and a low of 29 with no rainfall during the week.

Dalton High Rallies to Beat Walnut Creek 43 39

Dalton High overcame a 35-32 deficit in the fourth quarter to win 43-39 over Walnut Creek at Dalton. The Holmes team’s fast offense could not hold the rally as Dalton fans celebrated a victory after only two weeks of practice. Dalton reserves also defeated Walnut Creek 31-19.

Evangelist Irene Ihde to Visit Dalton Church

Mrs Irene Ihde famed evangelist and concert artist arrives at Dalton Methodist Church from November 21 to December 7. Dr E H Mohn and Rev Brown secured her services with endorsements from Bishops McConnell and Welsch. She taught at two American colleges and Aoyama University in Japan and travels with her missionary husband. Services nightly include music from Mrs Ihde and focus on knowing the Living Christ. Nightly sermons start at 8 o clock with no Saturday services. Sunday morning service planned. Everyone invited.
