A prominent New York physician led movement to end common colds within a generation. The article outlines a list of preventive steps the doctors claim will stop the annual cold season and reduce infections.
Dalton residents woke to about an inch of snow then a full blizzard with a north west wind. Two feet of accumulation by Monday disrupted mail routes and schooling. Trains telegraph and telephone lines were down and business halted. Roads opened slowly Tuesday and Wednesday as rural carriers resumed routes. Meat shortages and dairy deliveries were delayed until midweek due to impassable roads.
A year of nationwide correspondence led Connecticut Mutual to pay a fifty year old life policy to Mrs. Robert Mylar now living in a Missouri town. The finder was Mrs. H. H. Cully wife of a Glenville high school principal, who traced the Mylar family from Canton to Dalton and west.
An advertisement claims nearly every child shows worm symptoms and promotes Kickapoo Worm Killer as a safe, candy flavored remedy that removes worms, aids digestion, tones the system, and improves liver action. Sold for 25 cents by Kickapoo Indisc Medicine Co. in Philadelphia and St. Louis.
From the Gazette files dated November 15 1888 Wayne county shipped about 50000 bushels of potatoes that year. Misses Anna and Sadie Moncrief of Orrville visited over Sabbath with Reverend Madges. George Ressler of Sippo Ohio bought the Hoffman farm north of town at seventy dollars per acre and will take possession in spring. H M Rudys horse sale drew buyers despite harsh weather with twenty head sold averaging 187 dollars per head.
Last Friday Wm Bixler and Y B Douglass refereed the weighing of an acre of corn entered in the Free Trip to Washington contest. P Gerber of Sugarcreek township produced 101.36 bushels and will compete in the 17th Congressional district as Congressman Ashbrook agreed to cover the winner's expenses.
Michael Wecht born February 22 1831 in Hes Darmstadt Germany died November 1913 aged 82 years 8 months and 17 days. He lived most his life in Dalton with a four week stay in Orrville visiting daughter Mrs Clyde Rudy. He married Barbara Dahlheimer January 31 1856 and had eleven children. Funeral held with Cedar Lodge A M and Presbyterian church services in Dalton with interment there.

Mr D C Rudy and wife, en route from Mt Eaton to visit a sick sister, wandered in a field for hours after losing bearings in a snowy drift. Miner helpers Mescars and Andrew Vollock found and aided the couple, guiding them back toward home at daylight after freeing their horse and rig.
Mr. F Schultz and his wife entertained the Village Council Mayor and Clerk at an eight spigndid four course dinner last Friday. The event was a surprise and very pleasant for all, followed by a short inspection visit to a North Buckeye street crossing. Weather was cold but agreeable, making the outing routine and cordial.
A formal wedding united Miss Ada Horst and Mr. Martin Eshleman at 6 P.M. on October 30 at the Horst home east of town. J. J. Buchwalter officiated with Miss Lizzie Horst and Mr. Jacob Lehman as attendants. Guests included numerous Horst relatives and local residents as the couple received gifts and best wishes.
On account of the storm and road conditions the cow sale will be held Friday November 21 193? instead of November 18 as previously announced. H. B. Sweigart signs the notice.

William Wertz, son of Mr and Mrs K S Wertz, nearly burned when his clothing caught fire beside a grate. His mother, rushing after a guard, extinguished the flames but not before her hands were burned. the boy escaped unharmed due to the woolen undercloth protecting his body.
The 13 year old Jes sie Hill vanished after boarding an Erie train in Creston last Thursday. Friends believe she was kidnapped and a general search spans two states. She bought a ticket to Brookville Pennsylvania where her parents live. Police in Pittsburg and Cleveland are asked to search.
The case of Edward Graber versus D. Y. Roebuck was settled Monday in Dalton. Graber claimed $3,000 damages for injuries from a broken leg setting. The trial had been set for Thursday in common pleas court. terms of settlement remain undisclosed.
At Wyer and Rudy's commission barns in Orrville Ohio a sale of high grade Holstein cattle fetched fancy prices. 68 head consigned by Mewersa A Hursh W J Royer and David Warfel were sold. Prices ranged from 80 to 335 with a heifer at 225 and a two months old calf at 105.
Goldie Moock of West Lebanon was granted a divorce from Roy L. Moock by Judge Weygandt on grounds of gross neglect of duty and willful absence for three years. The court ordered the defendant to pay monthly support for their daughter Viole Moock.
Sugarcreek Township teachers institute convened at Boone's School House on November 1 with afternoon and evening sessions. Topics included music, The Teacher by Milner, Word System of teaching reading, school sanitation, prizes in education, and general discussions led by I J Ober and others.
