At the meeting held last Thursday evening the newly organized PTA elected officers. Myron Johnson was named president with Mrs Wilbur Eckard as vice president and Mrs Paul sadertscher as treasurer. Also elected were Mrs Clarence Kraus secretary and Mrs Donald Dearolf assistant secretary.
The board met May 2 and reappointed Glen Berg as school enumerator. Mrs. Leonard Moser received a two year contract and Faye Ischantz was hired for one year as secretary. All bus drivers are renewed for another year. August building closures for minor repairs announced. Eight used typewriters offered at $30 each, replacements bought from City Book Store, Wooster. Contact Mr. George Eastman. Forty cases of paper towels contracted to Minilcraft Paper Co. Akron. R. E Slusser, Clerk.
Sugar Creek Grange plans a meeting on May 10 at 8 pm with slowtime and a program starting at 8 30 pm. The agenda includes movies. Secy.
The Woman's Society of Christian Service sponsors the annual mother and daughter banquet in the church dining room Tuesday evening May 10 at 6 30. Guest speaker will be Mrs Theodore Mayer of Wooster. Reservations should be given to Mrs Margret Slusser by Saturday.
Mrs A P Teeple expresses gratitude to the Presbyterian church for a beautiful potted plant sent during her illness and thanks them for their kindness.
Awarded art scholarships for next school year go to John Muller of Burbank and Ralph Huff of Dalton following a recommendation by E. H. Blain, Wayne county school art supervisor. Huff, son of Mr and Mrs Russell Huff of So Mul St, is a Dalton high senior and won a Columbus School of Art grant. Dalton high was among five high schools earning a large trophy at the Smithville Achievement Day Art display, with Barbara Tinsler Carolyn Britton and Wilma Riggsby named individual winners.
The Sugar Creek Township Board of Education denies originating the Sugar Creek and Baughman union idea and states no site is known. It asserts all possible combinations will be analyzed and public information released before a final decision. Signed by President M. W. Douglas and Clerk R. E. Slusser.
Wm C Rudy was rushed to Massillon city hospital Monday night by Monbarren ambulance and placed in an oxygen tent.
The 1948 49 honor roll lists students by grade from I to XII across Dalton Elementary and High School. Notable names appear across grades including Russell Gregory James Meier Catherine Douglas Larry Hofstetter John Douglas Betty Falk Barbara Moser Eunice Steiner Charles Meier Elsie Mumaw and many others reflecting a broad achievement roster.
Girls from Dalton F H A hosted Orrville F H A in the high school Home Ec rooms led by president Gladys Sturer and Donna Shane. Betty Newton spoke from Ohio Fuel Gas Co. A 75 attendance at the Presbyterian church reception followed a devotional by Rev. L M Marker.
In loving memory of Mrs Alice Shammo who passed away three years ago on May 11. In our hearts you remain more than a memory as days go by. Sadly missed by her children who hold you dear.
The Ladies Auxiliary to Dalton Post Wo of W. No 5934 sponsors a bazaar and bake sale on May 7 at 1 pm at Culligan Soft Water Service in Leitner block. Cakes pies cookies pastries and fancy work will be offered plus plants. Mrs Geneva Gardner A FC in charge. Public invited.
At a recent council meeting the annual spring clean-up days were set for Thursday and Friday, May 5 and 6. Trash and ashes in suitable containers will be picked up free.
