The Dalton village council approved a 10730 bid from Lytle Construction Co Wooster for grading 18 streets patching 47 streets and alleys and sealing several streets with 550 tons of chip and seal. The bid was the only one submitted and was approved unanimously after a condition to add gutters and curbs next year.

The Dalton VFW Post 5534 Auxiliary celebrated its 26th anniversary with a dinner and meeting at Town and Country Restaurant in Canton on June 14. New president Emer son Shanklin outlined the year’s program for 23 members, with a combined meeting with post auxiliary men planned for July 10 to prepare for the July 11 carnival and chicken barbecue. Proceeds support ill members and the cancer fund for veterans and auxiliary women.

Reading improvement program pays big dividends locally

Mr and Mrs Lane Riffle of Co. Rd 105 Dalton will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with an Open House at their home Sunday July 1 from 2 to 6 p m. They were married in Greenup Kentucky on July 3 1948. They invite family and friends. Mrs Riffle works at Shady Lawn Nursing Home and Mr Riffle at Rardin and Son Construction Akron.
