Wooster Man Killed Walking On Route 30

William C. Brown aged 69, son of the late Peter and Sarah Brown, was killed when struck by a car driven by Robert A. Reeder 18 of Alliance on route 30 four miles east of Wooster. He had lived at the county infirmary since December and walked away from home earlier. He is survived by a half-brother and two half-sisters. Coroner Adair said death due to a fractured skull. The driver was not held. Funeral was held Tuesday at McIntire funeral home Wooster with burial in the infirmary cemetery.

W S C S Install Officers In Methodist Church

The Woman's Society of Christian Service met at Mrs George Hawk's home with 24 members. Rev E E Flauhaus installed new officers including President Mrs Kyle Lintern and Vice President Veryl Bach. A July family picnic at Dalton Park is planned.

Circle No 1 Presbyter ian church hostesses meet

Circle No 1 of the Presbyterian church met Tuesday evening June 13. Mrs C R McDowell read Psalm 37, Mrs Alma Williams led prayer, and a discussion followed. A sermon on prayer by Norman Vincent Peale was given. The circle voted to give 2000 toward the organ fund. Refreshments were served. The second circle met at the Hasseman home with 14 present.

Pies and Cakes Auction at Band Carnival

The Rotary runs a bake sale for cats at the band carnival. Pies and cakes will be in the Methodist church basement on June 22 23 or 24. Proceeds support church activities.

Dalton Vacation Bible School Closes With Picnic

The Dalton Bible School ended Friday June 16 with a 10 A.M. closing assembly at the Presbyterian church for parents. Four departments performed and parents toured classrooms. At 11:30 a picnic lunch at the park followed, with ice cream treats provided by the Ministerial Association. 107 enrolled, average attendance 98. Director Rev. Lester E. Flauhaus thanks parents teachers and helpers and notes appreciation to the school board for the building use.

Homemakers Club Met In Dalton For June Meeting

The Friendly Neighbors Homemaker Club of Dalton met at Mrs. Rena Hershey's home on June 15 with 39 members and guests. Devotions by Mrs. Audrey Buchwalter and singing led by Mrs. Zulea Hassemen. A talk on Marriage as a Partnership by Mrs Mundanl Rudy. Guests included Mrs J H Smucker and others. Contests and lawn games followed with refreshments served. Next meeting a July 20 picnic hosted by Mrs Edith Meter and Mabel Wenger.

Dalton Band Carnival at Memorial Field this June

Three big nights at Dalton Memorial Field on June 22 23 and 24 feature concessions rides eats and band music. The schedule includes Creston and Dalton bands on Thursday Jackson Two H S and Dalton Clown Band on Friday Beach City and Dalton bands on Saturday with prizes each night and tickets from band members or Boy Scouts.

Scout Banquet Highlights Dalton Troop 22 Meeting

The Boy Scouts of Dalton Troop 22 held a banquet at the Presbyterian church with 56 attendees. Scoutmaster Bud Garman led the event with talks from Mayor Vern Hoobler Carroll Scout Lee Douglas Paul Deterich and Steward Rile of Massillon. Rev L M Marker spoke about his Scout work in Iran and Ronnie Sommer described his Jamboree trip to Valley Forge. Coach John Gonter spoke and the group closed with a flag pledge.
