Dalton Playground Program Sees 100 Register in Rainy Start

About 100 children signed up for the Dalton playground program led by Co Directors Bill McFarren and Ned Biggs despite rain and date conflicts. Weekend and weekday games feature Hawks Eagles Buckeyes Indians with six inning games and free admission.

Questionnaire backs GOP on farm policy

Rep. Frank T Bow reported results from a congressional questionnaire showing 81 percent approval for the soil bank plan and a price support system tied to supply and demand. Eighty percent favored a balanced budget before further tax cuts, and 74 percent supported postage-rate increases to reduce the postal deficit if economies are made. Many objected to junk mail and urged protections for first class mail.

Cub Scouts Swim Event At Badoja Farm

Dalton Cub Scout Pack 22 hosts a wiener roast and covered dish supper at its monthly meeting next Monday June 25 at the Badoja Farm. Families to bring wieners buns covered dish and table service. Cubs swimming in the Badoja pool after noon, supper at 6 p.m. DST announced by J H Boyd committee chair.

Strawberry Festival At Concert Planned

The Dalton Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary will host a strawberry festival at the village bandstand during a band concert on Saturday June 30. Co chairmen are Mrs Edna Schultz and Mrs Miriam Scott. A Tuesday meeting at Mrs Schultz home approved plans with co hostess Mrs Pat McCullough. Twelve members attended. The group reported safety reflector tape on 46 children's bicycles with enough left for six more. Robert Slusse led a First Aid Book review on poisons. Next meeting will be at Mrs Dorothea Matz home with co hostess Mrs Beverly Santmyer. First aid review by Mrs Norma Schupbach and Mrs Grace Weisgarber.

Village Council Accepts Sewer Assessment Roll by Narrow Vote

The Dalton village council approved an $80,000 sewer loan plan and special assessment roll by a 3 to 2 vote after debate. Council opponents cited legal questions about borrowing. supporters cited need to fund the sewer project and debt repayment. The roll sets an 8.6 percent levy based on property valuations with most homeowners paying about $300. Objections period runs until July 26 with a three member board to hear appeals.

Nine of ten parcels mispackaged says Dalton postmaster

Dalton acting postmaster Marvin R Oswald warns residents that nine of ten parcel post packages arrive improperly packed sealed or endorsed leading to delays and missed special handling. He sets out simple rules: seal if using a parcel post label or endorse May be opened for postal inspection place address on one side only and use a single endorsement on the address side.
