Sugarcreek Township Picnic Honors Patterson Class

The third Patterson Commencement and Annual Picnic in Sugarcreek Township drew large crowds, with Dalton and W Lebanon sending substantial attendance. Bower’s Grove hosted the event, featuring twenty Patterson graduates and a program of recitations, orations, and essays led by E. Ober. The day included a non stop program, a Hall game final, and a class ad.

Kelsey Isofacre Injured After Horse Kicks in Near West Lebanon

Kelsey Isofacre, near West Lebanon, was kicked in the temple while preparing to hitch a horse for a Sugarcreek picnic. The horse jerked loose and struck him, knocking him down. the blow was serious but not fatal.

Freet, 80, Struck Near Square in Street Crash

Mr E A Freet an 80 year old senior partner at Freet and Son Clothiers was found unconscious on the street near the square Saturday night. He was struck by a vehicle or rig whose driver did not stop. He is badly bruised but no bones are broken and no serious complications are expected.

I. O. O. F Memorial at Dalton Cemetery

Arlington lodge No. 7751 decorated the graves of deceased members in Dalton cemetery Sunday evening. A smaller turnout due to threatening clouds, with members assembling at the hall at 5 30 p m. and marching to the cemetery led by the band. After decorating, they returned to the Presbyterian church where Rev C S McGrath of Applecreek delivered an address.

Rain and storm sweep region with deadly tornado damage

A heavy rain drenched lowlands Saturday night and Sunday easing dust while an electric display accompanied it. In some areas the storm resembled a tornado causing damage. Two deaths were reported in Zanesville after a church was unroofed during services.

Paroled man violates parole new Smithville case

Joseph Hays of Smithville attracted notice by getting drunk and violating the mayor Kaley parole. He was arraigned on intoxication, paroled by the mayor with a warning of a workhouse sentence if he appeared in court again. He was later ordered to serve the workhouse term.

A town festival is planned in Dalton at the town hall on Saturday night June 22. Music will be performed by the lltl Reg t Band to raise funds for the M. RE. church. Your patronage is requested.

Deafness Claims Cure Through Constitutional Remedies

An advertisement asserts deafness, usually caused by catarrh, can only be cured by constitutional remedies. It claims catarrh inflames the mucous surfaces of the Eustachian tube and promises $100 for any case of deafness due to catarrh not cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. It notes free circulars and lists Cheney & Co. in Toledo and local druggists selling the product. Ball's Family Pills for constipation is also advertised.

Rain and picnic ends with preserved community notes at Sonnenberg

A light rain fell Saturday morning and two inches more soaked the area Sunday. At the Township Picnic last Thursday the crowd behaved well with no notable incidents. D Kirchhofer and family recovered valuables left by picnickers and return many items to owners, some unclaimed items remain, including whiskey bottles. Mrs. Peter Schenk’s condition worsens, joined by family. Early cherries ripen as a fair crop. News from Uniondale and ernes Ind. and reports of a youth class in Sonnenberg church. Dredge idle above the railroad bridge with indecision on passage. A pocketbook found near Sonnenberg station and a wallet left at the Lebmat sisters’ barn are among the few items recovered.

Tragedy as Wagon Team Runs Amok in Shreveport Streets

A wagon driven by Zemeée Franks was fatally struck when a frightened team of horses ran away in Shreve, dragging Franks 1600 yards before freeing him. The incident occurred Thursday morning near a sewer pipe, ending the driver’s life instantly.

Farmer's Picnic at Experiment Station

Wayne County Farmers Union hosts a picnic at the Experiment Station on Friday June 21 in conjunction with the Wheat Field Day.
