Lightning’s Work Wrecks Barn and Kills Cow in Storms
In the past week electrical storms damaged property across several areas. L. F. Mason of Chester township was knocked aside when lightning struck a stone in his barn as he watered his horse after a funeral, leaving him paralyzed but not badly hurt. A lightning strike two miles northeast of Fredericksburg set a walnut tree and fence wire ablaze and killed a Jersey cow nearby. Elza Mc Connell’s barn escaped fire though a man’s clothes burned, while near Ashland a farmer named Jacob Reed was struck by lightning. Larry Stewart’s house suffered a chimney impact that shattered a stove and ripped his clothing, but he escaped serious injury.
