Memorial Day Observance Attracts Many In Dalton

Memorial Day events drew out of town visitors and large crowds as the parade reached Dalton Cemetery. After services, attendees moved to Dalton High School auditorium for Festival of Flowers and an evening PTA dinner that netted 505 dollars, up 29 from last year.

Degree For Gene Grim Graduates From Wooster

Gene Grim of Dalton will be graduated from the College of Wooster with an economics major. He is the son of Mr and Mrs G G Grim of 125 W Schultz St. An aspiring banker, he has one year of banking experience with First National Bank of Dalton. He attended Miami University a year before transferring to Wooster and was a tackle on the 1948 Scott football squad. He served two years in the US Army, including 18 months in Japan.

Dalton Community Recreation Council kickstarts playground drive

A Dalton playground campaign begins with $300 in hand after advance donations and a barn dance at Badoja Farms. The drive aims to raise $700 more by Saturday, with 25 council members assigned to canvass all homes, and doors to door activity starting today. Barn dance proceeds totaled $157.70, aided by auction lunch boxes and local volunteers.

Faye Marie Saurer of Kidron, 1956 Wayne County Rural Youth queen, becomes engaged to William Graham of Wooster RD 6. Saurer, daughter of Mrs Florence Saurer and the late Floyd Saurer, is a Dalton High School graduate employed by the First National Bank of Dalton. Graham, son of Paul and the late Gladys Graham, is a Wooster High School graduate and U S Army member awaiting a transfer to Alaska.

June Dance Draws Small Crowd in Stark County

The event was held at a local venue with fiancee William Graham of RD 6 Wooster purchasing the supplies. Cool weather kept the crowd size down but pushed guests to dance late as Paul Stockdale's orchestra played into the early hours and Earl Gulley of Canton served as the caller.

Communion Dates Set for Two Churches

The Rev. Thomas W Lorenz announced Holy Communion will be observed next Sunday June 10 at Dalton and Burton City Methodist churches. The Methodist Young Adult Fellowship meets June 14 at 8 pm at Mr and Mrs Merry DeLapp’s home. Children’s Day is rescheduled to Sunday June 24 with Mrs Paul Schultz chairing.

Dalton School Board Tables Bulk Plant Plan

The Dalton Local Board of Education tabled a proposal to install a bulk gasoline plant at the Dalton school bus garage as unfeasible for the present. The board accepted junior Lehman’s resignation as a school bus driver and approved bills and the monthly financial statement.
