California Bigtree seedlings planted on Tahoe National Forest
The Forest Service planted Bigtree seedlings on a moist Tahoe area 34 miles southeast of the northernmost Bigtree grove near Nevada City at 2700 feet. Seedings began in 1910 with the seed spot method and a second area was seeded last fall. Protection from fire could sustain future growth of the Bigtree survives as a remnant of ancient flora.

New Oil Finds At Pine Prairie From Myjes Mineral Co
Oil from a Pine Prairie well by Myjes Mineral Co is analyzed by the US Geological Survey as free of asphalt gasoline and paraffin wax and rich in illuminating oil. The crude sits between Gulf field and Caddo field oils. The well is piped to a loading rack on the Rock Island Railroad with shipments ongoing. Eight additional wells are in drilling.
