The East Union Lutheran church youth sponsor a festival on the church lawn Wednesday evening August 6. Village council awarded a contract to Lytle Oil Co for Mill Street and Schultz Ave surfacing with blacktop, completion by Sept 1. Buckeye Feed Mill reports first wheat deliveries July 24 from John Martins and July 25 from Peter Mast. McDowell elevator also reported first load. First wheat harvest averaged about 40 bushels per acre. Dalton Garden Club members toured Halle’s Studio WHBC station and Halle’s Store in Canton, saw Morning Meditation and Carol Adams interview with Mrs Stahl and Mrs Yeomen.

Dorothy Jean Scott and Charles Fred Fitchey Jr wed in Dalton Methodist Church on Saturday July 26 at 4 30 PM in a ceremony attended by family and friends. A garden reception for 150 followed, with a Smoky Mountains honeymoon to Gatlinburg Tennessee. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Carroll E Scott, attended Capital University and Northwestern University, later teaching English and speech at Canton Township High School. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs C Fred Fitchey Sr, attended Notre Dame Illinois Institute of Technology and served in the Navy before joining General Electric in Fort Wayne Indiana. They will reside in Fort Wayne.
