Local event invites all residents to Dalton Park on Wednesday August 13 with races for boys and girls, a tots tricycle contest, treasure hunt, ball game and bingo. Free prizes coffee and ice cream available. picnic dinner at six.
A joint basket picnic of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5534 and the Ladies Auxiliary is set for Sunday, August 3, at Kepler's Landing, Turkeyfoot Lake. The program begins at 3 0 o'clock and the picnic dinner at 5 p.m. Committee chairs are Mrs. Della Bach, Mrs. Elvera Goudy and Mrs. Joanna Berg. Transportation meet at the town hall at 2 p.m.
Republicans of Dalton and Sugar Creek township meet at the high school Thursday July 31 at 8 pm to select candidates for village township and board of education posts to be chosen in the November election.
Democrats of Dalton and Sugar hold a caucus Friday at 8 p.m. in the school building to nominate a village township and board of education ticket for the November election. The notice promotes a cancer cure article by Dr. Roscoe R. Spencer in a national American Weekly magazine.

Three family reunions are announced for Orrville parks this August. The Goudy Shank reunion gathers at Bonnie Brae Park on Sunday, August 3. The Schultz Emig reunion meets at Orr Park on Sunday, August 10. The Schwartz reunion hosts attendees at Orr Park on Saturday, August 16.
The East Union Lutheran church youth sponsor a festival on the church lawn Wednesday evening August 6. Village council awarded a contract to Lytle Oil Co for Mill Street and Schultz Ave surfacing with blacktop, completion by Sept 1. Buckeye Feed Mill reports first wheat deliveries July 24 from John Martins and July 25 from Peter Mast. McDowell elevator also reported first load. First wheat harvest averaged about 40 bushels per acre. Dalton Garden Club members toured Halle’s Studio WHBC station and Halle’s Store in Canton, saw Morning Meditation and Carol Adams interview with Mrs Stahl and Mrs Yeomen.
Dorothy Jean Scott and Charles Fred Fitchey Jr wed in Dalton Methodist Church on Saturday July 26 at 4 30 PM in a ceremony attended by family and friends. A garden reception for 150 followed, with a Smoky Mountains honeymoon to Gatlinburg Tennessee. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Carroll E Scott, attended Capital University and Northwestern University, later teaching English and speech at Canton Township High School. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs C Fred Fitchey Sr, attended Notre Dame Illinois Institute of Technology and served in the Navy before joining General Electric in Fort Wayne Indiana. They will reside in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. E L Slusser hosted a farewell party for Mrs. Mary Keirn who plans to move to New Concord in August. Prizes went to Mrs. Lester Monbarren Mrs. Morris Hershey and Elmer Vandersall. A handkerchief shower and sweaters for David and Allan Keirn accompanied a lunch of fruit salad ice cream nut bread sandwiches sweets coffee and tea.
Mrs Kathryn Mentzer of Dalton announces the marriage of her daughter Mary Jo Mentzer to Arthur Young of Canton Ohio. The ceremony was July 26 at First Christian Church Canton with Rev P H Welshimer officiating. The couple will reside on McKinley Ave Canton.
I thank my many friends for kind remembrances through visits, cards, flowers, and prayers. Special thanks to Rev Flauhaus for visits and prayers.
