Dalton beat Wadsworth 7 5 in morning baseball at Marshallville. Dalton then crushed Marshallville 12 1 in the afternoon, ending the day with celebrations including a speech by Judge Weyghant and fireworks. Local picnics at Myer’s Lake and community gatherings marked the holiday.
The first Dalton Chautauqua closed last Wednesday night with praise for the best program of the period. A contract for next year was discussed and, with about fifty guarantors, the event is planned to return. Attendance was good for a new venture and organizers expect a bigger, better event next year.
