LaVere Miller, a map dealer, narrowly escaped being robbed Monday afternoon northeast of town. He had about $80 when a tramp observed he carried money. Later a man jumped from brush with a club, trying to seize the horse head. Miller whipped the horse and escaped. The assailant is described as a tramp from a nuisance gang in the area.
