A birthday party was held at Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Wenger's home on January 25 to honor Eliza beth Kurtz's 84th birthday. Attendees included Mrs. F. A. Fisher and Mr. J. H. Kurtz of Canal Fulton, Mrs. C. J. Miller of Wooster, and several Kurtz family members. A huge cake decorated with 84 candles highlighted the feast.

Sled crash on Main Street injures Jay Lantzer
A three person belly-slam style sled collided while coasting down Main Street to avoid a sleigh from Mill Street. Jay Lantzer sustained severe facial cuts requiring Dr. Purdy's care as occupants fell onto the ice.

Mrs. Caroline Bentz Dies After Illness at 52
Mrs. Caroline Barkman Bentz wife of Daniel Bentz died Friday morning January 23 after years of illness from dropsy. She was born September 22, 1867 and was 52. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the M E church by Rev J N Moore and Rev Lashley. Burial was in Dalton cemetery. Survived by husband father mother five brothers and three sisters.

Eberly Dies at 45 a Farmer of Baughman Township
Jacob H. Eberly, 45 years old, died Sunday at his home northeast of Dalton after a year long illness. A prosperous farmer born on the family hill, he leaves a wife, a daughter Miss Grace Eberly, a mother, and four brothers Jonas John Daniel of the community and Levi of near Sterling. The funeral at County Line church Wednesday morning drew a large crowd.

Death of Daniel Myers a Valley Pioneer of Hemet
Daniel Myers aged 76, former Pleasant Valley resident, died Jan 5 1920 at Hemet California. He and his two sons Charles and Edwin brought his body to Stanwood cemetery for interment on Jan 17. Born August 4 1843 in Wayne County Ohio, he joined emigrants to California in 1864 and settled in the valley in 1870 acquiring Estudillo grant land and 111 acres. Known as Turkey Myers, he built a large turkey business, served on the school board, and was a long time stockholder and director of Farmers and Merchants bank. He leaves sons Charles C. and Edwin and daughter Mrs Samuel Rose, all of Hemet.
