Firemen Banquet for Dalton Fire Dept and Sugar Creek Drivers

Members of the Dalton Fire department and Sugar Creek township school bus drivers with their wives enjoyed a banquet at the Book Restaurant Monday evening. A pork chop dinner was served by Mr and Mrs H B Gregory. 33 attended. George H Eastman showed fire department reels and New York Fair footage. Clarence Kraus led tributes to Kenneth Gordon for weekly First Aid instruction.

Dwight Wertz spent two days in Cleveland. Mr and Mrs Lee Stahl stayed with Mr and Mrs Harvey Culler in Stanwood on Sunday. Mr and Mrs George Chapman and son from Massillon visited the Chap mans. Mr and Mrs Robert Jones and daughter Barbara Ann of Canton were Sunday guests of the Wertz family. E T Powley visited Nora Smith in Wooster then joined Frank Cline in Massillon. Carl Brown and daughter Beatrice with Julia Brown Floyd Shoup Ella Sword and Willard Groff family spent Sunday in Wooster with Aunt Mollie’s Restaurant owners Guy Graber.

Grange Hosts Sugar Creek Education Board Visit

Sugar Creek Grange entertained the Board of Education superintendent and teachers on Tuesday evening February 27. Dorothea Lehman read, Daisy Vernon played piano, a Nature Study address was given, Lee Douglas performed slight of hand tricks with Geo Eastman, and Don Garver led his German band. Ralph Hathaway chaired. Dorothea Lehman and Pauline Gerber led the program committee. Home Ec served ice cream cookies and coffee.

John L Kosier Dies at 66 in Cleveland

John L. Kosier aged 66 died Sunday at his Cleveland home after a lingering illness. Survived by wife Marie, one brother Glen, and three sisters Lottie Keeney and Nettie Ruth Kosier plus Miss Ruth Kosier. funeral held Tuesday at 2 p m at Dalton United Presbyterian Church with Rev R G Pinkerton officiating. Burial in Dalton cemetery. Born July 12 1873 in Dalton, he lived there before moving to Canton and later Cleveland where he ran a tile and slate roofing business until a fall three years ago ended his work.

Ira D Horst Dies Near Burton City Iowa

Relatives received word that Ira D. Horst formerly living near here died Monday evening February 26 in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Funeral services are set for Friday February 29 at 1 PM at the home of his sister Mrs O Spiker a mile south of Burton City and 2 PM at Oak Grove church Friends may call at the Spiker home Thursday evening.
